Weirdly enough, despite not been a popular god, Hades have a better marriage compared to his brothers... Simply said, popularity often affect your love life... It still rang truth for a lot of celebrities nowadays.

Ironically Hades was actually the most chill and least evil of the three brothers. The Greek Underworld wasn't equivalent to Hell. That would be Tartarus which is a specific part of the Underworld. The Greek equivalent to heaven was the Elysium Fields. Cerberus pretty much does his job well. Good guard doggo. Rape in context to the time pretty much meant abduction and he had a better marriage than Zeus did.

True, but that was also because Persephone got to leave for half of the year - or something around that time. And she also preferred the company of the Witch Hekate that lived with Hades, rather than Hades himself. But women are women... what can you do. You cant please them ever

@INDIGO 11:11 Polygamy was not practised in ancient Greece. Marriage was mostly a financial transaction, but if someone wanted to take another wife, he had to divorce the first one. It was common - but not socially accepted - for men to have lovers outside of wedlock (more so, if they were rich and powerful). Even Zeus, the father of the gods, who couldn't keep it in his pants to save his life, was subject to scenes of jealousy by Hera (who would avenge, torture or kill her brother-husband's lovers). If Hades was indeed faithful to Persephone, that would make him a very unusual god, I agree.

@@jacquelinedavis9948 I've never heard of that story..... Persephone was the daughter of Demeter and a harvest goddess herself and Hades tricked her into staying in the underworld by eating pomegranate seeds. Demeter depressed that her daughter went missing caused all the seasons to stop killing the world. The Gods panicking found Persephone with Hades but found that it was to late for Persephone because she had already eaten food from the underworld. So Hades cut a deal with Demeter that she would have Persephone 6 months out of the year in the living world and Persephone would spend the other 6 months with Hades in the underworld. Also Persephone cheated on Hades with Adonis who had to be shared with Aphrodite.

In some versions of the legend his wife Persephone loved her husband and was very happy to get out from under the most controlling mother in all of Greek mythology. Hades seems to be the only god in the pantheon that took his duties seriously. Pluto and Persephone even had their own little "divine-court" of gods and monsters such as;Thanatos, Charon, Cerberus (who's name translates as Spot🐶), the Furies, Hecate and Nemesis. All seemed to only visit Olympus as necessary so as not to offend Zeus.

Hermes, the river Stix etc. also recently I saw an interesting documentary about a temple in Hyerapolis where the priests where doing public animal sacrificing by a very interesting way - they where killing an animal with the CO2. it was known that Hades was taking those animals by miracles way.( tow years ago visited Hyerapolis but never herd about this... incredible.) this topic is also interesting.

Actually, Tartarus was the place of imprisonment for the Titans, not humans. Only a handful of humans were said to have been sent there and those few were not "great offenders" -- a.k.a. terrible sinners -- they were, instead, offenders of the Great. Individuals who personally offended Zeus, for example, as opposed to someone who, say, murdered forty people.

Do you suppose that the chronically ill/in pain would have ever made offerings to Hades, in the hope that he would intercede on their behalf and speed their entry into his kingdom where they could be at peace? Or that people might have entreated him to remove their enemies from this life sooner? Or that warriors would have made offerings to him in the mindset of one working to postpone their arrival in his kingdom? Would you bring Hades such offerings? Thank you.

Hades wasn't considered evil or even nasty, in fact he was concidered to be most virtuous, perfect, fair and just out of all gods. Most feared god was Zeus, because he wasn't known to be most forgiving or even remotely fair. Now Hades certainly wasn't a mister sunshine (None of the gods and goddesses were), but compared to other gods, he was most respected (d'uh, he would decide if your afterlife was pleasant or not). Also saying that greeks didn't worship him much is bit under statement, Spartans did worship Hades (mostly asking for fair and just judgement if they would fall in battle etc.) Each and every god and goddes were worshipped in greek since all of them had their own domains and such, ones that we know today are ones which are mentioned in poems that survived to this day, but there were literally hundreds of gods and every city state had their own pantheon of gods which were specific to that area, there were even different versions of same god in different parts of greek society, one good example is the warlike Spartan version of Athena.

I have a duty to fulfill, and such petty things can not detract me from responsibilities. All Gods have a duty to the world for we are bound to it and it’s people. But only *I* take it seriously. Only *I* don’t treat the world like my playground and the mortals as my playthings. I am firstborn of Kronos and eldest of the Olympians. Cheated out of my birthright by my own family, my own siblings! Yet I got the most important job of all, dispite no one knowing it. For in the hands of any of the lesser mature Gods I call my family, the dead would flood the world of the living. So let them spew their lies. Let them believe their falsehoods. It makes no difference nor matters not to me. After all…” *sly smirk* “All become my subjects eventually.” -Hades on Pop culture’s view of him.

No, we're mostly Orthodox Christian, but some pagan traditions have been transferred to the Orthodox dogma as most religions do. The carnival looks strangely familiar to the feasts dedicated to Dionysus but it's not a religious rite (even though it coincides chronologically and marks the beginning of Lent). And of course, the Lighting of the Olympic Flame is directly taken from the ancient ritual, takes place in Olympia and is lit using the sun.

No, his name is Hades, it is also the name of his realm. Pluton was one of his epithets that later the romans used to name him.

@@felipeguasp6122 no, Pluto was not an epithet and surely it's not roman. It's greek and that's what the Greeks named the god.

@@christosmalamas7526 I'm not saying Pluton is a name of roman origin, I'm saying romans used that name (alongside Dis and Orcus) to adress the god. He is called Hades, Hesiod called him Hades in the theogony. Pluton is one of his epithets, wich means "the rich" (let's not confuse it with Plutus, the god of wealth)
