Holy cow, we have such a similar story! I also found my dog in the streets of China. He was a stray or maybe abandoned dog who jumped on my scooter at a red light in Shanghai. He just jumped on my scooter, lied down on my feet and refused to move an inch. He looked so exhausted and miserable that I couldn't get myself to kick him away, so I took him back home. We also went through the immigration process and he is now the happiest dog ever in France ! Everyone, please adopt a stray dog and give them a second chance. They will give it back to you tenfold

That's when he realized I was speaking to him, stopped, got closer on jumped on the moped. It's been 2.5 years and not a day goes by when I don't think of this moment.

My Canadian father taught English and Programming at Shanghai University, where he would comment to students he saw enjoying KFC daily "as Western chicken meals go, General Tsao easily outranks Colonel Sanders. He also was coming back to live with me in Ottawa most summers, so he brought some postcards back to show his students Ottawa and Toronto Chinatowns. The puns on some of the names brought just a smile, but soon as someone spotted they were all marked "Printed In China" the real laughs began. He had also brought menus from many Canadian Chinese restaurants, which brought just disbelief with the portion sizes, the listed ingredients and titles. "They call THAT Chinese?" One year he was due back here so a family friend booked a reservation for a welcome home lunch; a new Dim Sum place. Many of us including Dad had already signed the "I am coming" poll when Colin posted a panicked update. "Oh DAMN me, as if I could forget where he's coming from, eh? He must be sick of Chinese food, what else does he like?" Dad answered with a laugh; "Hey Buddy please keep that res. I miss the hell out of Canadian Chinese food. Been 2 years without a single spare rib!" He has retired now, winters in the Philippines and 6 months + at least 1 day to keep our health care going. He was stranded for 3 years over there, after flushing the last of his pain meds after a life saving surgery on the plane not to be shot as a suspected drug dealer. He was also bummed that unlike Canada, over there liquor stores were not labeled an essential service, though he declines to ever brew over there, though he does know how after living in Jeddah.
He really stayed five months with her until they could go home? God there’s still hope for humanity after all.

What is not really gone into, in this short (but good!) video is that he had to stay in China for several months after he found Gobi due to all the problems he had to resolve to get her out of the country! He had to stay in this sad apartment and kind of sneak Gobi out for potty breaks. I can't remember, but I think he had to kind of keep Gobi hidden (?) - maybe dogs weren't allowed at the apartment or something. He really went way above and beyond to save her! 💞

After I watched several of his videos about Gobi, I bought the book from Amazon and read it in 2 or 3 days!! I was obsessed with this story. They appeared on so many interviews around the world......Italy, UK, USA, I can't even remember now all the countries that had shows they put them on. He also did follow-up videos. When he stayed over there throughout Gobi's quarantine it was crazy! He had to slip everyone money from the maids to the hotel managers to look the other way because they were not pet-friendly like we're used to here. Some of the people were very intimidating. They inspected his room, he had to be extremely careful not to make China out to be unkind or not to paint them in a negative light at all or they would have deported him without Gobi. Black cars with tinted windows would park outside and watch him. It was more than a little unnerving but thank God he and Gobi made it home. This little dog latched on to this man wholeheartedly. She was extremely independent but I believe our pets DO pick us. We will truly never know exactly why she picked this man but she clearly did! That is an excellent book. I knew when he left her that those people were not going to stop her from running away to find her human......her dad. When he did find her she had a few injuries and you just know that she had been on a mission to find her best friend. What a great story. And when he carries her across this river during his race because the current would have carried her away.......he had crossed it but she could not and she barked over & over and he went all the way back to carry her with him!!! You MUST read that book!!!! 💘🐕💘🐕💘🐕
had a similar way of getting my cat, aberdeen i was walking around my neighborhood w my friend at the time, and she came running up to us. she was super skinny and really dirty, but she let me pick her up. she let me carry her all the way home swaddled in a jacket. my friend had actually taken care of her at one point, so i thought maybe he could take her back, but he couldnt. i tried to rehome her, because i thought it would be hard to take care of her, but she ended up staying. shes a huge symbol of change for me and my life, and so much positivty has come out of her being with me. i love her so much. she now takes baths regularly, eats 3 meals a day, goes on walks with me (leash and harness of course!), and even knows alot of tricks! i love my cat. pets choose you, they really do. they show up in your life at the oddest times, but often the best times.

3:19...the way Gobi looks at him 😭😭
Gosh, this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
I wish all humans treated animals this way
There’s a reason most of our purebred dogs start with groups of dog lovers in the British Isles. Those folks LOVE dogs.
Gobi is an amazingly brilliant dog to know to pick this particularly kind hearted guy... Such a sweet story. And Gobi is so cute!
I love Dodo videos where a man would find a stray dog or cat on his way and then he would ring or text his wife and she would be down for it a hundred percent~♥
Wow, her level of endurance is incredible! I can't even walk up the stairs...Gobi, you're ACES!
I'm reading his book now about how he found Gobi.
A match made in Heaven!
I absolutely love this story and have seen the video multiple times. This bond between man and dog is so amazing. I can't believe he actually found the dog after she went missing. Tail wags all round!!!

I don't understand how he knew for sure it was the same dog if there were so many dogs that looked like this.

Thanks for never gave up on her.
This is one of the most beautiful stories. It reminds me of my sweet little guy Maxwell, who passed away a year ago almost. We bonded immediately at the shelter, and I told him that I would be back for him, which I had to wait several days for their regulations. And he never left my side, nor would he ever. Ours was a once in a lifetime kind of love that was absolutely beautiful. A lot like this one.
Whatever it was that made Gobi run with “Dad”, he chose the perfect person, who is so loving and sincere❣️ Gobi’s happiness is profound and so is “Dad’s👍💗
Faith restored! You people are absolute angels and Gobi is just the cutest ever! She chose you mister and you didn't let her down, so heartwarming!❤☺🤗💞

Hello 👋 Lynn
That is incredible. The logistics. The money. Understanding employer? That little dog ran for 5 days? That man ran over 70 miles? That man has a loyal heart. Lucky family, people and pets.
GOBI was with you in another lifetime! Thats why she recognized you right away.
What a great guy and his wife sounds lovely. Amazing, loved this video!
AMAZING!! Again, another case of an animal hitting the life lottery thanks to amazing people. And this great man stayed with his puppy 5 months to make sure she could travel back with him and be safe until that date arrived. Simply amazing.
Humans THINK they pick and chose the dog, when it's the opposite...They really do pick and choose you! Thank you for doing all that you did to get her back.
'Dog adopts guy ' god bless you man pure soul adopts you thanks for understanding him
Thank you for saving this dog. I had same thing happen to me 40 years ago, mom took dog back to trailer park in are where it started to follow me and dumped it back there. 40 years later I still remember the dog and regret that I didn’t demand to keep the dog as it would have had a better life with us.
She's SO FRINKIN CUTE!
Gobi has the best pet human ever
Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!
There is a special place in... - Heaven for this guy! :) Well done...

I can't believe a dog this size can run so much!! He's cute as a button.
A pet choosing an owner is the best kind of pet. I've been lucky enough to have a second pet like that, and she is the biggest baby ever
