@@bearwithmeasec2330 it took a major event for me. I hit rock bottom doing jail time for it. I finally had to assess what was important to me, booze or life. I chose life. I also quit cold turkey. Not the best option but I did it. Exercise and other hobbies help too.

Here's a thing I found out early- pain wouldn't kill me. I thought it would. After getting that- I learned to stop the endless effort to escape pain- and LIVE. TODAY. Pain? Bliss? Rage? Happy? It all comes...and goes... Life is a blast- pay attention! Best to you.

Haha..we did! We adopted two of them on 4th of July weekend. A Pitbull puppy (my husband thought was a chocolate lab) who is absolutely the most intelligent and loving dog ever and a senior coonhound who had an awful life arriving at the shelter emaciated, was adopted and brought back and was lived there for six months. Ruby, my very special girl, is blossoming into the joyful dog she was meant to be.

I had a bad experience and it put me in a deep depression I slowly fought my way out of it. One day I decided to rescue a Dog little did I know he rescued me. I am back healthy and 100% thanks to my Dog. GOD BLESS THEM BOTH LOVE THE VIDEO.

That's so nice ... and so true! We think we rescue dogs but in reality they rescue us! When I walked the dogs from a shelter, people said to me, how nice that I walk them, but for me it was not true and I answered: No, it's so nice, they walk me! It's so nice being in nature with them, it's a nice and refreshing experience!

Dogs are our angels. Also, I love how in so many clips of her hiking up a mountain she was carrying a stick, as if she needed her own walking stick! I am so happy for the both of them.

Of course you"re soul mates - it's a once in a lifetime experience. My sol mate was Rissa, a german shepherd. I got her 8 weeks old and I had 16 glorious years with her. I am so greatful for my experience.

To those who complain about The Dodo putting too much focus on pitbulls...I think it's because so few breeds are as maligned and misunderstood (and made criminal in many countries) as pit bulls. The Dodo are doing a great job of showing that adopting these dogs who are labelled as 'aggressive' and 'vicious' is to bring a rare gift into your life This is especially the case when they have been abused and rejected and still come out of it being loving and gentle towards creatures that so closely resemble their tormentors...a rare and beautiful trait so few, including humans, have!!! I think considering how they are treated they really deserve to be lauded and applauded. I'd love to have one but they are, sadly, illegal in the UK, which is just ridiculous ;o)

Pj, stay strong man. I've been sober twenty years. I had always been in thr words as a child but drifted away as a teenager. I too found something wonderful and amazing in the hiking, my Austin came into my life right around year 6, he recently lost his battle with brain cancer. He to wad a mess when i got him, someone messed him up so badly that it wad the last 4 years of his life he was finely free to be himself. So glad you and Clove found each other. One day at a time bro!

Dogs are precious , and so are you. It is a wonderful true story of how a dog and a human saved each other and have a chance at life again. This time a much better life. Also, I love how she studies maps with you, and her cute little paw on the map with your hand is so adorable! They ( dogs) seem to also have these amazing built-in navigational systems.

Awesome I have a similar story with a pit bull but we found mountain biking and shared 9 wonderful years sadly he passed but I have continued to rescue pits in his honor I currently have two wonderful boys a red nose and a blue. Sadly they are to out going to bike but love to go on hikes so that’s what we do now !!!!!

Had a Pit Bull that I acquired at 6 weeks old. We lived together, only us for 14 years, and did a lot of similar activities to these two. I just lost him 4 months ago. I know exactly what he means when he says they had a deeper connection than he had with any human. In all those years I never spent a single night in my house without him there until he died. I never, in all those years working at the same job, came home from work to him not being there until he died. This has taken some serious getting used to and it still hurts a lot. I love their story and I don’t mean to comment on myself, but wanted to give context to my thoughts. As I watched this all I could think about was how hard it’s going to be for this guy, especially being an addict, the day loses her. I’ll be praying for him early.

My lab saved my life from horror depression. He died from anal cancer. Broke my heart and I thanked him before he was put down. Hardest thing I’ve ever done. Thanks for the vid. It reminds me that something is better then in our life.

I adopted an amazing pittie from my local shelter 3 weeks before I had major spine surgery. My boy was my walking partner and kept me motivated to fight through the pain as I recover from the surgery. We do everything together too. All dogs are awesome but Am Stafs are extra special. Congrats on your sobriety!
