It boggles my mind that people will claim that The Warning don't use backing tracks on some songs when they've talked on many occasions about using Ableton software to manage and play backing tracks. It's not a secret, they don't try and hide it, and have never claimed to not use backing tracks. They do play a lot of stuff without backing tracks, and the backing tracks they do use are minimal/subtle, but they absolutely use them. And you're right that Pau is a hell of a singer. While I firmly believe that Dany is the better singer overall (more high range being the biggest difference), there's something about Pau's tone when singing that just grabs your heart and rips it out of your chest. If you want to check out a different (and older) Warning concert that doesn't get blocked, I can highly recommend the entire Lunario CDMX concert on their official channel. It's the entire Queen of the Murder Scene concept album (which is AMAZING) and a few of their other popular originals.

Yep, They use Ableton live (as you mentioned the laptop is next to Pau) it has the click track for their in ear monitors as well as additional tracks as needed for each song, although you'll find it's mostly subtle in it's implementation. The song More is a bit more blatant as there is a keyboard/synth sound (edited; I've been corrected, the effect is done with guitar!) with the Ale's bass during the intro. The tracks used are still played/sung by the band (they're also classically trained pianists), but as you say, as a three piece they occasionally need to use some additional 'padding' or sounds that are on the studio version but were dubbed on by them additionally to their chosen instruments. Good reaction - a thumbs up from me! TWA⚡UK

Check out Pau's rig rundown - she talks about using Ableton software - they have access to all of their studio tracks with it - they can blend in any. track they want. Here are a couple videos of Pau talking about it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z62m25eDYaeblcY.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/on2jj5eBpMWfqqQ.html It's why they sound bigger than a traditional rock trio. What I hear mostly when listening to them are extra guitar parts and backing vocals. When a guitarist plays a solo and the rhythm guitar drops out, it can sound very empty, so you usually hear a rhythm guitar when Dany plays a solo. Personally, I think this is the best way to go for them. Why bring other musicians on stage when they can use tracks that they wrote and played themselves?

  • @oldmanyeni1663
    @oldmanyeni16636 ай бұрын

Yes, Pau's laptop runs both click and stems. Pau does all the triggers for start and stop of the Ableton (she talks about the START pedal on her left, and STOP pedal on her right in the most recent rig rundown video). Their use of supporting tracks is complementary to the songs not mandatory for. I have seen them when that backing track dies or does not get triggered correctly, and they keep right on playing. Bands have been doing this since the 70s (the Who with Baba O-Riley) and the 80s (Rush with Amiee Mann's voice on Time Stand Still). I have no problem with it being used in a supporting role like they do, especially since they play all the parts themselves.

I had the opportunity to be in Monterrey concert last year and the song was included. Blow away my mind and feelings. Lucky me to be there and the song was included. Long life to the good Rock. Yeah 99.99% of bands and musical artists use backing tracks and samples during their live performances. They're there to put on a show just as much as they are to showcase their talent don't forget. So that means filling out the sound to enhance the live playing with backing tracks.

I never had the pleasure of having samples mixed in live but it would have made some things harder playing rock styles of music .. For example if after the second chorus but before the last verse the second has a shorter lead break than the big take us out lead at the end. But this time my lead guitar player has evoked his inner Duane Allman and did a jam band length lead and came out of it in a position where we need to let every thing go around another time and then begin that verse. Im making my observation more complicated to explain than need be. Anyway if you hit a button that plays these samples before you or the lead guitarist knows he’s gonna feel it and play a longer lead you couldn’t signal the samples like you would the drummer to just wait one more time around those chord changes and then bring it down for the verse. I guess Im accustomed to being able to improvise in a very natural way that 98% of the crowd will never know happened anyway.

Hi. TW were always honest about it, yes, they use some tracks, usually some keyboard or piano sound, or even some rhythm guitar, and on occasions, like this, some effect ir voices. where it becomes clear is in enter sandman, that Alessia Cara's voice is added to theirs. There are even several videos of Pau on KZread explaining how he is responsible for launching the tracks from his midi pedals. It's no secret and it adds a lot to what they do live. without failing to say that everything that is sound has been recorded by them for the tracks, that is, in one way or another they do it. I like it that you throw in the early covers every few reactions. The one you absolutely need to do next is their cover of Metallica's Atlas Rise live at The Whiskey. There is another version of it done in The Cave at their house that is outstanding, but the live version is mind blowing. And you have said a few times you plan to dive in to a full album offline. If you do this with QOTMS, it's a slam dunk choice to do it by watching the live performance of the whole album at the Lunario. Look forward to your next reaction.

Yes, the echo sounds on Wrong and Gone are indeed a “track”. They use backing vocal tracks on other songs as well such as Alessia Cara’s vocals on ES and some of the binary code in Error and I’m sure there’s other examples. The majority of what TW use are sound effects, ie sirens, screams and other inocuos sounds. They also have songs with keyboard parts that they no longer play onstage or never have. There are songs with splashes of a 2nd guitar to fill out Dany’s sound. Even with all the effects that Dany can use through her Kemper she can’t play 2 different sets of notes simultaneously. Tracking/stems are very much used by a majority of touring bands these days, it’s not a secret or taboo. The distinction is when some bands rely on them for a majority of their sound. If any of TWA caught the NA leg of the Error Tour with Plush and Holy Wars did you wonder where the bass sound was coming from during the Holy Wars set? There was only the lead singer, guitarist and drummer onstage. How often are we finding out lately that some of what we consider “legacy” bands have been using tracks for entire segments of their shows for years? There are a lot of modern bands, The Warning included, that use tracks to enhance the show not to be the show and there seem to be others that can’t function without tracks.

They do use backing tracks. Due to harsh experience, the computer with the click track/ backing vocal/ backgound video etc crashing to the stage and the lid closing mid song during a live show, there is nothing on the computer that will keep them from giving a full performance.

That is a sound effect that is part of their backing track- not a voice but electronic sound. They have backing tracks on most of their songs these days but usually not vocal (except Alessia Cara for Enter Sandman).

Yes, they use backing tracks in a some of their songs. Pau has talked about it and shown her setup. She runs Ableton Live with the click track and the stems. She has 2 dedicated pedals to start and stop the song.. she doesn't trigger individual sounds. Sometimes for ambience, like sound effects.. a couple of songs there are rhythm parts while Dany plays lead. In Survive which starts out with piano played live, they play a piano backing track later in the song.. Enter Sandman, has a an Alessia Cara backing vocal track.. I'm not sure who has denied it.. it's very clear they use them. Most reactors just say "oh I hear a ...", not sure why you seem obsessed with them though. lol Check out her Gear Review video kzread.info/dash/bejne/on2jj5eBpMWfqqQ.html

They have been very transparent about the use of track and stems. They have always said that the tracks help fill out the sound, but you have to be prepared to play with out them and they have had to play with out them several time due to computer issues and other equipment. Music is art and hits people differently it is ok not to like something as much as some one else as long as everyone respects each others options. Enjoying the video's you are doing keep up the honest option's.

Like your honesty. There’s a video where the drummer shows exactly what equipment she uses. She points out something she uses the laptop with foot pedals. You’ll know what it is. I have no complaints with minor amounts of filler. I’d say they do almost all of their show live. Nice catch on that. But I’ve got to say it was a darker stage so it was hard to tell if maybe one was at a mic. ❤❤❤

The voices or echoes that are heard in the background. They are choruses of own voices previously recorded and coming from Pau's computer. There are sounds that they record and are part of their songs. They explain a little about that in VLOG #25 (previously exclusive on Patreon) .

*23* , like many of their songs, is left open to interpretation... some have speculated the title is for the year "2023" while others have thought it references someone's age... i was not sure but have come to see it as being about the year "2023" because that's when Pau turned 21 years old... the lyrics "barely old enough to drink" are fitting in many locales where 21 is the drinking age... in DPA/TW's home area, the drinking age is 18, IIRC... anyway, this is certainly a song about caring deeply for someone from afar, holding back, and then realizing that, in the future, they will meet that someone again... how they will handle their feelings and memories and what may possibly happen... then again, while it sounds personal, maybe this song is about something they might have read or seen in a movie or TV show... after all, their song *Amour* comes from a 15 second clip of a scene in the movie "Ratatouille"... that scene has the camera looking through a hole in the wooden floor... there are two characters down there having a fight... maybe a lover's quarrel? i don't remember... anyway, they are arguing, they suddenly hug each other, and it is done; end clip... there's also their song *Wildfire* which was inspired by "The Hunger Games" movies... i think at least the 2nd one titled "Catching Fire"... DPA/TW have drawn inspiration from a lot of places... IRL, books, movies, games, etc 😹 this song has brought tears to many eyes... while being a powerful drummer, Pau is also a fantastic and very emotive singer... i don't go a day without hearing DPA/TW... they possess both, my heart and soul... TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

A thing with this show, as I understand it, the audio is from night 2, and the video is from both nights, so sometimes things like Dany's strumming look out of synch to the sound that's coming out of the guitar. Recommend Pau's drumming masterclass. Very informative and there's a subtitled version. I agree with you on 23. It's good, but it doesn't super excite me. Ugh and Dull Knives are still my favourites.

You are not wrong about tracks. The band has never tried to hide it. They are very upfront about the fact they are a 3 piece and cannot physically do everything in a live setting. That said, I think the are a great example of the perfect use of tracks. It is subtle and only enhances what they are playing. Without the tracks their performance doesn't really suffer. I think the most glaring use I have ever seen was 'Z' performed at Teatro. The rhythm guitar clearly kicks in while Dani is still finishing her blistering guitar solo. The official audio plays that way, but the 'live session' video there is no rhythm guitar until after the solo finishes. It is also ok not to be a big fan of some of the songs. I still think they haven't written a bad song yet, but there are some I don't care to listen to very often. And The Warning is very reactor friendly. They know how it works. The more people spread the word, the better it becomes for them. Also, they were independent up until this last album, so all the old songs have no management company patrolling them.

The audience did a lot of singing along at this concert, but I think you're correct in your analysis. The repeated background vocal seems to be on the click track laptop. Pau uses Ableton to run EVERYTHING. I think whether you like or don't like the song depends upon your personal past and whether you relate to the spirit of the lyrics. It takes me way back to my youth and rips my heart out every time. I totally relate. Pau is a real empath, with the ability to take a 15-second movie clip and turn it into poetic lyrics. Her cover of Radiohead's *Creep* is probably my favorite version of that song.

The thing about The Warning and backing tracks at a live concert....if the computer or the track misfires, or crashes, most in the audience won't know it happened. To give the audience a 'best sound possible' is their goal, so sirens, gunfire, and screeching tires are tracked in. Nightwish relies on The London Philharmonic to get the amazing full sound they produce in live concerts. Hard to take TLP on tour, so....back tracks. Both bands are great, but during a power outage, I'f rather be with The Warning.

I don't know why anyone would say they don't use backing tracks, they 100% do. There are videos of Pau showing how her laptop works to trigger the click and backing tracks. I think it super cool how it all works! I would say, you use the term "sample". I personally use that term for something different than backing tracks, but I'm not a musician and could be wrong. I thought they were different, so that might be why some people say they don't use them. Idk? Just my thoughts. Thanks for the reaction!

Something I have not heard any one comment on yet ,it seems to me that since this was such an important show and they wanted the most professional, fullest sound possible as it was an official release by the band, they used every available backing track possible, including rhythm guitar parts, to sound as much like the recorded versions as possible. Please correct me if I'm wrong. This is not a criticism by any means. When I see them live in person or watch a fan video, they sound more basic and raw, mainly Dany's guitar, with no rhythm tracks, but still full.

Sometimes the three are missing another member. But it doesn't make sense because you don't need another member to write the songs. With today's income you don't pay anyone just to play anymore. Added to this is the close relationship between the three. Another member would always be a foreign body.

There use of backing tracks is minimal. In the last 2 or 3 years the computer died and know one new it. It happened at least 5 or 6 times only die hard fans knew. One of the times was opening for GnR they would not let them do a sound check the commuter would not work and they still killed it. Many say there is a guitar backing track, lately I have seen a few reactors get it right, Dany uses her pedal board to split her guitar into stero with one side on a delay with a different tone so it sounds like 2 guitars playing

That's not a secret they use backing tracks :) With only 3 of them it would be impossible to play all of this. But on the other hand - they record everything by themselves, they play and sing their parts live and the backing tracks are only for support. Results are incredible so nobody should have anything against that, especially that many of the greatest bands in history also used that method. 23 - one of my favs from The Warning by the way :) Thanks for a great reaction video, spot on as always! :)
