    The Warning has played the Whisky four times. The first was a pay to play 30 minute set in 2018. It went so well the Whisky issued a standing invitation for them to play whenever its convenient for the band. This set was in 2019, and was a private show. The band returned in 2020 to play a show, which sold out in a matter of hours, so the Whisky offered them a second night which they also sold out.

    @@SDsailor7 they wanted to play the Whisky, and every unknown band pays to play at venues. It usually takes the form of guaranteeing a minimum number of tickets sold. The band has to buy the tickets, and if they resell them to fans, then the band keeps the money from the sales. Stage time is invaluable for young developing bands, so most bands are willing to play “the game”.

    Phenomenal performance - I think my jaw was literally on the floor when I first saw this - they are so tight & have so much energy! I saw them live here last summer, 4th night in a row, Dany sicker than a dog & they just ripped through their set, you would have never guessed they might not have been 100%. The only giveaway was that Ale sang lead twice, which almost never happens. Absolutely, go see them play live - they are the real deal. The show I went to was in a similar venue to the Whiskey, 600 max sellout crowd & they blew the roof off. More of The Warning please!

    A once in a generation phenomenon. I saw them live 2 months ago in Tijuana where they started with Disciple. Ale’s bass kicked me in the chest and knocked me over, then Pau beat me over the head with her drums and then Dany finished me off by slaying me with her guitar and vocals. Once you go down The Warning rabbit hole there's no way out, like Black Holes (which is one of my favorite songs of theirs).

    TW has done some great covers, but really their own music and lyrics are killers/bangers. At the Whisky, Dany demonstrated again her guitar skills, not easy to incorporate both the rhythm and lead guitars pieces from James & Kirk, but she does, heavily supported of course by Ale and Pau.

    The fact that they mastered this in a short time as an encore specially for the club owner whilst in the performance being teenagers who played for nearly 2 hours already covering a legendary 4 members band as a 3 piece and killing it at the same time really says alot about their talent and work ethic. No wonder why my 2 favorite bands thrive on sibling magic (the other one is Larkin Poe btw). Now that you've heard a few songs and seeing the look on your face I think it's time to get to know the ladies a bit better. They have some excellent short documentaries but in my opinion the best starting point is the TedX talk from 2017. Great live performances and some very insightfull commentary about their journey in between!

    Check out their 2018 Live at Lunario show when they were 18, 16, and 13. They debuted their concept album that night by playing it from start to finish. It's their own show but it's also as barebones as this show - it's very rough and raw - and they kill it. At that age they were already a full-blown rock band. It's easy to assume the worst with these girls - I personally wrote them off as a gimmick for nine years, and once I gave them a chance I scrutinized them pretty hard - while falling in love with them. I'm not a fan of the backing tracks (on principle, and it opens them up to doubters/haters), and I am very skeptical of the illusions that the industry paints in general - but these girls are the real deal. The more I see, the more I love. They're absolute killers, no doubt about it.

  • @SDsailor7

    So the backing tracks is a bad thing? I am just. Learning about these backing tracks did Rush, Cream, Metallica, journey did not used them back in the day?

  • @justinatest9456

    @justinatest9456

    6 ай бұрын

    @@SDsailor7 I don't know when backing tracks started getting used, but no, most (if not all) of the classic bands never used any backing tracks at all. If you look at Pau's setup she has a laptop next to her. This runs Ableton - which she uses to control a click track (for timing and syncronization, and to play preset backing tracks for each song. A backing track can be something very small - like the cash register sound in TW's Money, or something a little bigger - like a keyboard part (the end of TW's Survive). They can also be a whole extra guitar track, extra backing vocals, or anything else you can imagine. The issue is that the band isn't actually playing everything you are hearing. Is this bad? If I wasn't a TW fan I would say yes, probably. But I am a fan, so i cut them some slack. TW use them sparingly. And they are more commonly used by many bands today. Sorry for the long answer. But it's a little complicated to explain.

Speaking of 'Death Magnetic', it's a great album. Its biggest problem is the sound, exaggeratedly compressed due to the 'Loudness War'. I.M.O. Hardwired is solid, I like it. I haven't listened enough to 72 Seasons to have an opinion about it. When it comes to Load and Reload, I have big soft spot for them. Sure, they have a new sound for Metallica, kinda bluesy, but it's still good music, and the song writing skills are as good as on the more thrashy albums.
