Barnaby had to resign not because of his relationship with his employee but there was clear conflict of interest as she was promoted under him. None of Gladys' evidence proved that her actions benefited McGuire financially in anyway. If that was the case even Rupert Murdoch couldn't have saved her.

That's just the way our political system works. Think about it like this the Governor is the person whose job it is to hire and fire the Premier. The Governor has no democratic legitimacy so they try to appoint as Premier the person who can best fill that legitimacy vacuum - and is able to run a Government. All the constitutional conventions around Premier appointment and dismissal attempt to achieve this aim. So long story short, the Governor will not act unless there is a clear alternative, and she either loses her democratic legitimacy or is unable to govern. This could happen in a few ways: she loses an election, there is a vote of no confidence in the Legislative Assembly or the Legislative Council blocks supply. For the sake of argument let's say irrefutable evidence of corruption was found and she still refuses to resign. What would likely happen is there would be a spill and the Liberals would choose a new leader. If she still refused to resign they would vote no confidence in her and confidence in their new leader. The Governor would fire her and appoint the new leader of the Liberal party. Which is to say it is much more likely that she resigns before any of that happens. Kinda like Nixon, she'd resign if she knew she was going to lose the vote and be fired.

It's amazing the level of double standard the government has. If I walked into any job and literally pissed away tens of millions I'd be lucky if I wasn't sued. @@dmeritt3425 Andrews has far more integrity and competence than #koalakiller #GuiltyGladys The mainstream media always completely ignore the fact that Andrews wanted the police to guard hotels, and the police didn't want to. That, and Andrews requested for quarantine to be done at airport hotels, not in the cbd. We will never find this out from NewsCorp or Nine-Fairfax though. Dan Andrews sacks people when they stuff up as well. Gladys Berejiklian on the other hand, has presided over dozens of projects that have completely backfired and gone over-budget, all contracted out to Liberal donors.

@@willlarsen6967 Tale of the tape: Gladys: Ruby Princess - 28 deaths Dan: Hotel quarantine - 800+ deaths Gladys: numerous failed projects Dan: as far as I know he's got a good track record on projects Gladys: did not inform fellow MPs of her relationship with a former MP under investigation by ICAC. Dan: himself and 7 members of his team suffer a highly concentrated bout of amnesia (aka lying) with regards to who decided to use private security guards. Dan Andrews is premier of Victoria. If he wants the police to guard the hotels then they should follow the orders of their boss. If the police refused to follow Dan's directions, does that make Dan a poor/incompetent leader? Dan also had ADF support if the police were giving him grief. Not sure how the location of the hotels is a factor? Did the other states quarantine their guests in non-CBD hotels? Nonetheless, the infected guards still went home/other jobs after their shifts at the hotel and thus helped spread the virus into the community. Also, if Dan is a competent leader, why couldn't he get his way with where he wanted the returned visitors to stay? Who has Dan sacked because they stuffed up?

Knowing all of the blatant corruption in the liberal party, and how evil they are- and them still being in power and never facing any consequences has actually really turned me off politics. I actually feel sick in my stomach the more I hear about all of this. Ive been a long time fan but I cant handle any more :(

Same, it is just getting too much. I am trying to walk away from it and consume less political news, the last election was a real turning point for me I still can't get over it. If scummo wins again (which he probably will) this country is finished. A cult follower destroying our research institutions is the last straw for me

So what we can all take away from this is that when you get caught RED HANDED just tell them you don't remember and you'll be sweet as mate. Seriously though I hope they drag her through the mud. If it's so embarrassing for her to have her personal life questioned, why is she premier? If you were just a normal citizen you could do whatever you wanted gladdy. OH it's because she likes the power that comes with the position but doesn't like the repercussions of abusing said power... Gotcha.

I think you’re 100% right. If this was a male politician who ‘didn’t know’ about his girlfriends corrupt misdeeds, I’d bet he’d be hammered. Seems there might be some double standards for women who get ‘taken in’ by men, but men should know better.

@@Mannazify Barry definitely did something corrupt. It’s a false analogy because Barry was caught red handed. Gladys is hiding behind the ‘I don’t remember ‘ excuses. She is a public servant who has a duty to disclose corrupt behaviour wherever she sees it. The issue here however is not Glady’s behaviour but the leniency of the political commentary that refuses to look deeply and unforgivingly at a premier who consorted with a known and proven corrupt political operator. ICAC isn’t finished yet.

You’re the hero we need. I’ve made so many changes when it comes to how I invest my money thanks to you. I only support banks and super funds that are 100% green. I avoid certain places based on how they invest their profits too. And that’s a start. You made me realise that protest is not enough, and that money talks. As a lover of all things nature (it’s deeply imprinted in my soul), I wish I could do even more, thank you Jordan for pushing me in the right direction. We are the exact same age, but you are so much wiser than I. You’re a great guy. I will forever support your efforts. So much respect to you. Thank you! I hope that when most of us millennials are done having children, things will be different. A charismatic person who is so very funny has the potential to reach younger generations.
