Thank you! That's so sweet of you, yes I do have to admit it was an emotionally taxing time here for quite a while! I think the "shock" of everything going on was what affected me most - fear and helplessness type of feelings. I'm glad to see that so many people have done what they can in this time - focusing on the good has been helping to calm my nerves. This quote from none other than Mr. Rogers (!) has proven incredibly true to me: "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.' To this day, especially in times of 'disaster,' I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers-so many caring people in this world." Great video! I walk past ELF b/c I felt it was low end and not good quality - you have changed my opinion on a couple of brushes - this video is right on time for me - I’m in the process of purchasing/adding to my brush collection - I did a good wash of my Estée brushes and the powder and blush brushes are losing hairs on my face! So.... a video on good brushes from Ulta and review of brands would be of great help for me! Love your style of videos and I will be reposting and recommending your channel on my social pages and my influencer site - you are a great discovery for me!!

Thank you! Yeah the catch with drugstore brushes is that it's hit or miss - ie for as much as I adore even Real Techniques (probably my favorite drugstore brush company), I still have a few duds from them. As a whole though, RT, Elf, and BH Cosmetics are my favorites. I like ecotools for face brushes (not eye), and sadly all my Morphe brushes have fallen apart so I hesitate the most with recommending them (have heard some people like them, but they just didn't work out for me)

My 2 favorite ELF brushes are the tapered blending brush (perfect for smaller, deepset, or hooded eyes to put a darker color in the crease) and the white handled spoolie (I don't like to use the one attached to brow pencils, because I never think to wash them!).

Omg I like individual spoolies too! I thought I was completely alone in that, but same reason for me - it's easy to wash those, whereas with dual ended brushes I have to think about cleaning both sides. Finally someone gets my thinking LOL! 😂

The elf blush brush due to being synthetic is actually BOMB with creams!!!

RT is such a great brand too! I kind of like that they're a bit more focused (on just brushes) as I think that's why there are fewer misses from the brand

Yesss. Thanks Alice! Great overview and ideas. I have a few to add to my wishlist... The first “expensive” brush I bought when I first started being swayed by YT was that damn Becca one. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve used it a handful of times. 😑 Target used to sell Up and Up brushes (I don’t see them on their app anymore? 🤔) that were also nice for the price.

Is it weird that I use the eyebrow duo brush to separate my lashes and curl them a bit before I put on my mascara?

I love that $2 eye brush too. It does the job..❌✖❌

If your undertones are cool (pinkish), you’ll want to make sure your contour has got a bit of grey to it. If you’re warm (yellowish), you want at least a neutral shade, but grey will always look most natural. Shadows are grey, thus contour should be grey. Hope that helps!

Hi again. Can you recommend some blending brushes for people with smaller hooded eyes? Low & mid range in price. I want to learn how to blend & the brush I have I think is too big or the wrong brush because all my colours seem to disappear. There are so many brands: ELF, IT cosmetics, wet n wild, MAC, sigma...I don't know what to buy.

BH Cosmetics!! They actually have some amazing and petite sized brushes. I have only ever bought them in kits, but I’ve been so pleased with the precision eye brushes in them. I’m not sure why it’s otherwise so hard to find small eye brushes, but it definitely is!

@@AliceintheRabbitHole I wish Ulta had BH cosmetics single brushes! Seems to only be on the BH website. Which brush would you recommend for blending? They have so many! Right now all I do is liner & one colour eyeshadow. I'd like to learn blending. Canada doesn't have Ulta but I signed up for the US one anyway. I'd love to see more videos about hooded eyes.

Have you tried ELF's pro series brushes with the clear diamond shaped handles? I love them but man they're spendy.

I haven't, wasn't sure if they were worth the significant price increase! Might have to grab some in the next sale though if they're good (whew, my "next elf sale" list is long LOL!)

I love using lip brushes. I feel like I do better work with a brush. I am a brush hussy. I kinda collect them. I totally believe you can use many inexpensive brushes. I do like real Techniques brushes. I like Crown brushes. I like natural hair brushes. I have several. PC or not I like them. Elf has enough good brushes, in my opinion, to get almost anything done. So true - I rarely use lip brushes but when I DO, the end look is always better! I looove my affordable brushes. Sometimes I side eye my expensive brushes and wonder why I dropped so much on them when Elf/RT/BH cosmetics/etc have such good options! You too, hope you're doing well & sleeping better too! 💗

@@AliceintheRabbitHole I had a sh** week. I am just overwhelmed with this pandemic. I have issues to begin with. OCD, anxiety, and PTSD and depression. I am telemedicine with my therapist once a week. It helps. I am just overwhelmed with being overwhelmed, if that makes sense? I am not sleeping well at all. Hell, I never do and it is worse than ever now. I am blessed. We have everything we need. Our bills are straight. I have to come to terms with the fact this isn't ending anytime soon. I need to adapt to the new normal. I am just struggling. I got this and will be stronger and smarter when we get through this storm. I am just emotionally exhausted. Stay safe. I do like my elf brushes but the the glue they use is subpar. I have had to superglue them a lot. The feel and the handles are otherwise, good.

Yuuup, I'm glad I'm the kind of person who always has superglue (wait...wait should I be glad about this?! Lol!!)

I am not a fan of fan brushs at all and I have a sigma one and a few others don't like them I have the becca brush and I don't like that either..lol sadly my favorite brush ever is the MJ #2 brush and it cosmetics brushes ..💸💸💸eye brushs I love lots of different ones I have found some really good cheap ones and love lots of morphy eye brushes. I have the elf eyebrow brush with the spoolie with the clear handle .

Any chance you can rec some good Morphe eye brushes? I've been hearing that the individuals are better than the sets...think I want to give them a go. I've only tried the M433 and it frayed so quickly for me 😢 - but maybe that's just the hyped one haha

I throw that elf brow brush in my purse. The car mirror doesn’t lie. I brush through my brows real quick and touch up if needed. If I loose it, it is only $2.
