I'm so glad you did this! I finally decided to stick (mostly) to Ole Henriksen for my skincare. My skin is oily (except my forehead, which tends to be dry?) and pretty hardy (yet the Power Peel was a bit too much for me the one time I tried it). In the morning I use the Truth Serum (mixed with a few glops of the Ordinary Niacinamide) then the C-Rush moisturizer. At night I've been using the Retin-Alt serum (mixed with a few glops of the Ordinary Buffet) followed by the Retin-Alt moisturizer. I really like the way the Retin-Alt feels on my skin and the way it makes my skin look and feel. It has a pleasant scent that I can't quite place. One of my recently purchased favorites is the Cold Plunge Pore Mask. I have issues with enlarged pores, and this mask really helps tighten them up. It also helps control oil after I use it. It has peppermint and eucalyptus - very prominent eye-stinging mintyness- so it may not be for everyone. It's also got lactic acid , salicylic acid and "green fusion complex" so it's doing some exfoliating and antisepticating too, along with the clay. I do all my Ole ordering from the OH website with a referral code for $15 off a $30 purchase (the referral thread at MUAontheCheap on reddit is a good place to find referral codes). The code FREESHIP has always worked for me. Plus there are often codes floating around online for free trial sizes. I try to find a code for the 7-day trial of 3 Little Wonders. Those packets are so handy for traveling! There are quite a few great deals in the sale section at OleHenriksen.com right now. If my backups didn't have backups already, I'd be all over that.

Ooh thanks for sharing your experience with those products! Yeah I did notice the Cold Plunge Pore Mask is getting a lot of attention, especially for oily skin! I have the dry forehead issue too - absolutely the most dry part of my face. Apparently it's pretty uncommon, but at least it's a fairly easy solution - I just use a drop of oil there as my final step in my routine! And you're right about ordering direct - I like Sephora for ease of return if something doesn't work out, but OH Direct is the way to go for repurchases!

This was also the first skincare line I started with from Sephora. However, I noticed my skin becoming more irritated by these products than helped. I think fragrance makes a huge difference in how well we can tolerate a product. Thanks for the really in-depth video about the brand. P.S. I received a travel size of the walnut scrub for Christmas put some onto my hand felt the texture and threw it into my shower as a deep foot scrub. Something that physically exfoliating should be nowhere near your face!

I LOVE 💛💛💛 your yellow hat! This brand is definitely not for me because of my eczema prone, sensitive, allergic skin. The only thing that tempts me is their banana eye cream, but I don't have dark circles. Murad is another brand that seems to go heavy on the fragrance. I tested a bunch of it and the only things I could tolerate were the moisturizer and the murad essential c day moisture spf 30. I loved the sunscreen, but I got it in a value kit, which was an additional 50% off, and when I went to repurchase it was $85.00 CAD for 1.70 oz! 😨 I wish both brands would just leave out the fragrance.

AliceintheRabbitHole I’ve been using it lately and I just love it before makeup! My skin is so refined and smooth. I just love it! I think it’s suitable for all skin types as it’s designed to just resurface but it’s much more gentle! But I’d get a sample of it first. But yes the kaolin may not be the best but I always find after using it that my skin is super soft and not stripped of anything. So it’s definitely worth a try!

I did a recent deep dive into ole skincare and the two toners (the green and dark blue) are amazing. I have already repurchased each multiple times. The cold plunge pore mask is very nice and the walnut scrub was nice (I prefer a dermalogica one). Unfortunately I tried the truth serum, truth line moisturizer, retinalt serum and moisturizer and returned all of those. The retinalt serum and moisturizer seriously made my skin freak out and I’m not particularly sensitive. Will continue to repurchase those toners over and over again but I’ve started branching out to other brands in terms of serums or treatments.

AliceintheRabbitHole I honestly think it was layering the serum and that specific moisturizer together because I believe both have the bakuchiol exfoliating properties and i think it was just too much, but that’s also what they recommend so it was odd. I was interested to try one without the other but honestly at that point my skin was breaking out worse than it has in years and I just needed to hit a big reset and go back to products I know work for me. I've been usng the Banana Bright vitamin C serum for about 4 months followed by the C rush moisturizer. I honestly could see my skin definitely brightened within 3 days. The vitamin C concentration is the highest possible. The Banana Bright eye cream tops everything off.

Hmm well it kind of depends on your needs/skin sensitivity. L-AA is the gold standard, but it's not stable. And SAP helps more with acne. I guess I'd say L-AA has the most research behind it though. I just finished my SkinDeva 20% L-AA and I do think it was very powerful, it's just not for sensitive skin. If you're not sensitive either, I'd start there tbh. $25 for essentially the same thing as C-Firma/Skinceuticals!

I'm no Kardashian/Jenner apologist but it's kind of funny how much hate Kylie's gotten for her walnut scrub when it turns out....they're kinda everywhere. She didn't invent the darn concept, but you wouldn't know that based on reviews. And dangit I just kinda defended Kylie Jenner, didn't I? 😣

RIGHT?! I agree completely - OH has had one for YEARS, and I'm not even sure I've ever heard someone argue against it?!
