Thank you for consistently emphasizing what is fragrance free/free of essential oils. I don't get breakouts from them but I will get migraines if the scent is too strong so I appreciate it.

Me too, especially lavender oil.. And skincare companies seem to love Lavender oil.. It's annoying, especially when they conveniently leave that off the ingredients list.. I am looking at you Derma E

Let me know how it goes for you! I was excited when I saw the ingredients/price, but it's the act of using it that won my heart!

Really have been enjoying trying new toners. Good molecules will be next. I tried alphah Liquid Gold for the first time this year and was blown away. I am older and my skin looks amazing in the morning. I will never be without this product. I want to try B. Sturm because of the Ph levels, but still have not splurged. Always happy to see a video notification pop up.

I had great results with it too - still, it's complicated to recommend as some people don't like the alcohol content (I would argue it's boosting the effects of the glycolic, but that can spell trouble for sensitive skin types on its own!)

Hi Alice, I think you got me really interested in trying the Kitao Matcha. Once you read off the ingredients I thought it would work well for my dry skin. I have always heard great things about using snail on your skin. Sounds gross but it's good for your skin and I love the anti aging aspect of it. Its worth a try!

I would say yes. I use a niacinamide toner and hence not a niacinamide serum. Not really necessary to have both in the same routine

This is very helpful! I get lost in toners and essences. You aren't the only one raving about that Cosrx essence. I think I really neeeed iiiitttttt :( ugh trying to save money,lol)

Thank you sooo much for this series. And for the wonderful reminder why you love the Cosrx essence so much. As I mentioned before I did purchase it and have been using for about 2 weeks. And you are soooo correct it is amazing!!! Well worth using my Sephora points money. I started it on a day I started with a rash from a L’Oreal rose moisturizer that had a ton of fragrance and broke me out. Ugh! It totally help heal that rash quickly I was what did I really have a rash. Also I have dry skin and this time of year it is worse. Boy it really hydrated my skin. Also I have these deep set lines in the corner of my mouth and their appearance bothers me between adding the cosrx snail 🐌 mucin Essence AND the Snail 🐌 moisturizer it really has plumped up those lines. I kept looking in the mirror with amazement. They are not gone but they don’t look like those deep set lines. Yes yes I am kicking myself for not purchasing earlier due to my squeamishness. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️THANK YOU THANK YOU

Nice. I'm impressed you didn't mention Hada Labo. Other than the blue bottle Whitening one they're all pretty much the same. I'm all for budget skincare, but they are just a little too cheap for my taste. The Lauder Micro Essence is charming, but that one is more than I like to spend haha.

I tried EL's as a GWP and really loved it - then I looked up the price 😳 Nice formula though; EL really rides that wave of bifida ferment lysate. But what can I say -- it works!

I love toner. For a while I wasn’t sure if it was actually doing anything. It just made my routine feel a bit more luxurious 😂.

Haha yeah, it doesn't always feel high impact - but it actually is very beneficial! Not only is it a great step to deliver beneficial ingredients, but it helps the following steps spread better ☺️

I've just started using TO's glycolic toner as a straight application again today instead of diluting it in their hyaluronic serum (the first time i did it i was sensitive for about two days). This time around i put less on the cotton round and there was no irritation for me anymore! I'm looking forward to tracking its effects on me, although i will have to do it on alternate days at first so i dont accidentally overexfoliate before i can tolerate my acids. 😅 It's been a while since i've used a proper toner without some sort of potent active in it, i felt like for a while i didn't really need one. I just ended up dumping most of my hydrating TO serums, sloshing it on my palms for a bit to apply on a damp face, top it off with a moisturiser and an oil and call it a day. But it's become unbelievably dry here where i am right now and now i have to take care to layer on more stuff or i will wake up quite dry in the face. I'm not sure i need a toner added into my routines but i will try to adjust my current one, looking at the usual suspects of needing extra layers of moisturiser and oil to seal in moisture in the first place before perhaps making another purchase for a toner. ☺

I understand that! I turn to my oils a lot more in the winter months as well - otherwise, it can actually get quite painful!Dry skin + winter is not fun! 😳

That's so weird cos I bought the cosrx by accident and I'm so pleased you've recommended it. It really helps my dry skin and am using Niod's new CAIL alternating with retinol. My skin is finally behaving as retinol was too drying everyday. Love your make up too.

So this is just me, but I use AHA toners in the AM. Sometimes before Vit C (both would be at the proper pH). At night, I use a toner at a pH of 6 before retinol. As per usual, it’s a YMMV scenario (especially as this is a strong routine) - but that works well for me. Always wear SPF regardless!

Such good advice on the Yesstyle order...phew I've made that mistake LOL! I would guess yes - since it IS a light texture, not oily feeling, just extremely hydrating. Granted, that's a guess from someone who has now upped their oil use from once a day to twice a day (hey, winter - how's it going?! 🥶) - thankfully Ulta's return policy is excellent if you don't like it, but it's honestly hard for me to imagine anyone not enjoying it lol!

As always, your make up is soot on. What palette are you using and can you do tutorials with very slow explanations for beginners?

Yup! It’s a surprisingly good brand. I think it all comes down to who these brands hire for formulations- and whoever Tarte has working for them is doing a good job!

Battling facial eczema all of a sudden and I’m also somewhat acne prone so I have to be careful. I’m 34 so anti-aging is a thing too I’m trying to decide between dr jart caramidin liquid toner and first aid beauty oat toner. Which would you recommend between the two?

First Aid Beauty would be my pick. The colloidal oatmeal/propolis will be very soothing for your skin

I've found a few exfoliating toners that seem to be suitable for dry skin; the Benton PHA Peeling Toner, the SKIN 1004 Madagascar Centella Asiatica Toning Toner and the Benton Aloe BHA Toner. I'd love to try them and I thought you might be interested too! :)

Ooh thank you for the recs - true that PHA is a great alternative, and I personally use BHA almost daily!

Idk why our stores in my Province do not carry the skin care from Elf.

So I wonder who the first person was that saw snail slime and said “hey, I think I’m going to put that on my skin”? I’ve been using The Ordinary Glycolic Acid after I shower. I just pour some in my hand and rub it all over my body - especially my legs and elbows. I have a different glycolic acid toner for my face. I don’t know why. It’s not like my other toner is better or cheaper.

If you ever run into an AHA toner that doesn't work on your face, that's a great way to use it up too! It's what I've been doing with the Good Molecules overnight serum - can't use bergamot on my face, but it's fine on my elbows and knees! 😁

I have problems with closed comedones. BHA, niacinamide serum and basic non-comedonic moisturizer helps, but when I intoduced that elf toner to my routine, I got more clearly more comedones. What you think it's the ingridient on that may cause it? It contains coconut water, idk about that but coconut oil my skin can't take!

It could be the fragrance too - a giant reason why I put Good Molecules above it! Fragrance is the least predictable ingredient in my experience

I tried the Tarte Knockout and enjoyed it quite a bit. However, I remember the first time I used it, my whole face turned bright red and burned when I applied my Vitamin C. Rookie mistake, I’m sure. Was it the niacinamide, you think?

I'm more inclined to think it was the pH - knockout surely has a low pH as do most vitamin C products; could be a lot for your skin to bounce back from!

Hi Alice. What’s your opinion on Tata Harpers’s skin care line? I used to love the brightening essence and the cleansers but honestly, her prices have gone up like crazy in the las couple of years. I just got an email with %20 discount but not sure if it’s worth getting anything since it kind of gets me mad that she almost doubled the price of one of my favorite products of hers. Thanks! Personally, I think it's just too pricey. I do like some products (I weep over how much I love the oil but won't repurchase it on principle - the price on that alone is up 62% from a few years ago - that's RIDICULOUS imo...) Herbivore is a good alternative for clean skincare in my personal opinion, assuming clean is the goal!

The kitao is such a hidden gem! I bought it based on the ingredients, despite not coming across a ton of reviews and am super happy I did! I usually avoid alcohol like the plague but it's at such a small amount that I feel it just helps the moisturizing ingredients penetrate deeper. Now if only I could repurchase it in Canada easily 🙃 I have an unopened bottle of the good molecules toner in my stash too, super excited to try it. Now I'm just trying to use up the Acwell licorice toner. Overhyped imo, and the bergamot oil is stronger than I expected. Do you find the good molecules toner efficient in removing makeup residue though? That's usually one of the key purposes I need from a toner, at least those I use w a cotton pad.

That’s my feeling with the alcohol in it too, plus stabilizing the ingredients! As for the GM toner, I double cleanse and it seems to get most of my makeup off - so I’m not the best person to comment on that. My guess would be that it does, provided you’re using a cotton pad/cloth, but that’s my guess vs confirmation!

@@AliceintheRabbitHole fair enough! I double cleanse as well, but was shocked at how much was left over when I started to use a cleansing toner. Similar result regardless of what products I use and how long I double cleanse for, i suppose my highly textured skin just likes to hold on to grime 🙃

I have both dry skin and redness... thinking between the primera and kitao. Which would you prefer. I just bought the Cosrx one might only use at night and something lighter for morning.

Kitao for dryness, Primera for acne! I had both of these bottles out side by side and would choose the one my skin needed for that day. But without acne, i would just go with Kitao - it’s SO hydrating!

Great video. I stopped using Clinique after using it for years because of the alcohol in their products (toners) and that their products never did anything for my skin (redness, rosacea and oiliness and pores). Also can’t bring myself to put something “slimy” on my face and knowing it comes from snails 🤢😂

Clinique has so much potential with their fragrance-free promise, but sometimes I don't know WHAT they're thinking - their toners are stuck in the 90's, and chemical sunscreens irritate a rather large portion of people. It's so bizarre!

AliceintheRabbitHole It’s the inconsistency of their ingredients and for me, personally, lack of any difference in using their products, that I had to look for other skincare products

I absolutely love the Primera essence and I’ve been trying to find something somewhat comparable that is a little more affordable. If you use it the way they recommend, 1 bottle should last for a month. That’s a lot to spend on one product in my routine on a monthly basis. I will keep repurchasing, but I just feel like 😩 whenever I have to pay up lol

I do not use that much - I was actually kind of shocked when I realized I'm using roughly a third of what they recommend! But I suppose it could be YMMV - especially with using it after a hydrating toner, I don't feel I need a ton of it (whew! 😂)

Another great video. One request-please stop suggesting such great products and thus inspiring me to spend money. Skincare is my weakness.😁

I missed my girl! I got everything I wanted! I'm such a spoiled brat! Everything I said I would get on my wish list I got plus more!Clinique actually has really good customer service .When they actually get around to reinbursing u!Usually u have to wait about a month. They will replace stuff for u and send a refund check! I only had a problem with about 4 different items.Ever! 2 of the times they took care of it in store.The rest of the time I had to contact the number for the website!I actually use that snail mucin!The kitao matcha I believe I saw at Ulta! On the prestige side of the store!I believe in the k- beauty area.

I agree, Clinique does have amazing CS! I remember I had a question (not even a concern) and they went above and beyond in helping me out! Total side note - that Lancome Holiday set you talked about? OH MY GOSH IT'S AMAZING!! It showed up on the PR site and I remembered you mentioning it so I applied for it. The pictures absolutely do NOT do it justice; what an incredible deal! I've been gushing over it for days LOL!

I also did the Clinique purcase with a purchase and the Estee one in warm and bunch of stuff from the Mac starring u collection and 9 single eyeshadows becuz they were half off ! I hoarded a bunch of the lipsticks from the collection becuz they were so cool! Have u tried the benefit cookie highlighter yet? It's so cool! I got the lancome set in glam!
