1.25 lb. ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1 box white button mushrooms, sliced
2 garlic cloves, minced
salt & pepper to taste
¼ tsp. dried thyme leaves
3 Tbsp. all purpose flour
2 c. low sodium beef broth
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. Dijon mustard
½ c. sour cream
dried parsley for garnish
cooked egg noodles for serving
Preheat a large, nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Add the ground beef and break it up with a wooden spoon. Add the diced onion, minced garlic, and sliced mushrooms. Season with a pinch of salt, pepper, and the dried thyme. Cook until the ground beef is browned, the onions have softened, and the mushroom are golden. Sprinkle the flour over top and stir to coat. Cook for about a minute over medium heat. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Stir and bring to a simmer to thicken for a few minutes. Turn off heat and stir in the sour cream. Taste for seasoning and add more salt and pepper if necessary. Serve over cooked egg noodles and sprinkle with dried parsley as a garnish, if desired.

I make this too, if you like peas, I put a 1/2 bag of tiny frozen peas in at the end let them cook for 10 min, it gives it color and a little crunch.👍❤️🦋

I compared several recipes and picked elements that sounded extra savory. 👍🏻
Yummy!🤗 Hey Anne, if you slice the onion initially with the lines and then slice it perpendicular, you will get perfectly diced onions. Most people don’t know this secret, and they slice the onion in half against the lines. Thank you for your tips. ☺️
Doing this !! Amazing!! Will post outcome
Here comes Anne's beef dish again beef dish again I cant wait to taste it You can't beat it I'll eat her meal once again
Nice job, here is a tip... always sweat out your onions first unless you are using bacon then that goes first, this drives off the water which has no flavor and starts off the Maillard reaction which does, before adding your other ingredients. Otherwise the onion will never be all that it can be and you will be missing out on a big flavor bomb. Also, great job rounding out the flavor profile with the Dijon and Worcestershire sauce, subtle but oh so important.

Actually in this situation cook the mushrooms first in a little butter/olive oil until they release their water and begin to take on some color then add the onions and sweat them out then add the meat.....

@@sarahturps1384 Yes, I do enjoy Jean Pierre and he gives that advice all the time but I frist learned this tip (start with the onions) from Anne Burrell (her catch phrase was "brown food tastes good, yum ") via the food network but to give credit where credit is due, Chef Pierre made the connection to the water and water having no tasted but I say onion water has crappy taste.
Found this recipe and you tonight. Made it and added peas per a viewers comments and it's fabulous. I'll add 1 1/2 cups broth next time because I prefer it thicker but it was awesome

I think if you added your preferred non dairy milk-maybe just start with a quarter cup-and bring it to a simmer, the flour would help to thicken it. That would be creamy! Maybe a little dairy free cream cheese for some tang?

How lean is the beef?
@AnnesFamilyRecipe
Жыл бұрын
Typically I cook with 80/20 and drain off the excess fat. Sometimes for a dish like this where the ground beef cooks pretty quickly, I would use 85/15 or even 90/10 👍🏻

you could be incorrect ! … onions on their own sweeten which is not ideal for this dish. … many many recipes , onions n garlic added after browning meat and added straight in …. Ever heard of more than one way to skin a cat ?
