GREEK GYROS - I try ATL's Legendary Gyro spot.

I've been craving a Gyro and boy did Nick's come through. This family run Greek gyro and sandwich shop has been serving locals for 30 years in the Grant Park neighborhood, just outside Downtown Atlanta. Surrounded by shiny new multi-use buildings, Nick's radiates character as one of the last symbols of the old neighborhood that has seen drastic change over the years. Nick's To Go has become the stuff of legend, standing the test of time with recipes handed down in the family. I see why. The gyro's are fantastic, and I was pleasantly surprised by the spanakopita and baklava, both very authentic. And that tzatziki is up there with the best I've ever had.
If you're in Atlanta, don't pass up on this spot. You will feel like family.

Been there, very good value for lunch. Unassuming whole-in the wall. Just walk up to the window, order, 15 mins its ready. Eat at the picnic tables, in your car or to go.

My all-time favorite place for gyros was a little shop (now closed) in the college town of Carbondale, Illinois called El Greco. I was there in the late 70's and early 80's and it had been going strong since 1973 and closed in 2018. My husband was from the area and it was always on the list of places to eat when were visiting family. A few places have come close but no one does it better. They were also known for their flour battered fried mushrooms. Have never seen mushrooms fried like that at any other restaurant. Perfection! I always wonder if your husband is starving while he is filming and watching you eat. lol

Aaah those are the places that really stick with you over the years. Glad this vid could be a bit nostalgic :) I'm often feeling so bad that he waits on me to eat lol but he's just such a great sport 😄 and he definitely gets his share when I'm done hehe.

The foil or paper that is always wrapped around the souvlaki pita is not meant to be fully removed. You just tear from the top and keep tearing as you go lower. Otherwise everything falls apart and it is not meant to be eaten as an open taco. The sauce that he put the pita on is simply olive oil. oregano and lemon.

Most places in Greece use parchment paper in my experience. And they can be eaten how ever you want.

@whatomorrowbrings Well yes, any food can be eaten the way somebody wants. I mean, you can eat it with your toes if you wish. I'm just sharing with your viewers the proper way to eat it. Now I have noticed in all your replies to everybody you are very unreceptive and rude to anything people have to say that corrects you. This would probably explain why your channel is not growing and you are not gaining viewership. If you're going to go into a country and showcase their food, the least you can do is have decency and respect and show how something is eaten the proper way, after that do whatever you want.

Simply just want to mention to your viewers that falafel, as delicious as they are, are not a Greek food. I do realize that in the States Greek restaurants tend to mix in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes. However, restaurants in Montreal and Toronto do not do that. You will never find falafel or hummus in a Greek restaurant.

Correct. Feel free to watch my videos in Greece that display greek food from islands like Sifnos and Serifos. Chania, Rethymno, and Heraklion in Crete. And Nafplio in the Peloponnese.
