There is NOTHING Greek in her song, other than the lyrics. The melody is gypsy, the basic instrument is not at all linked to Greece, her voice tone is what we used to do in early school years to mock other children. The song is pure garbage!

Let's see how the performance goes and then maybe you can take back the comment about you not seeing her winning (ik you liked it a lot). I think Greece's huge advantage compared to other favourites is the lack of a love performance. She has stated that the song was made for the live perfromance and based on inside info it will be huge in the arena!

The irony with Greece is that while it's the cradle of western civilization, it's usually not perceived as a western country. In my opinion Greece is a very western country, but has managed to not sacrifice culture, tradition and values to capitalism.

You are very very wrong. We have more common to the east than west.Our songs are eastern, our history too. Our food, appearance, everything except for religion. You are one of those Greeks that are you ashamed of your middle eastern or Balkan origin (and I don't mean the Slavs who are different) Change nationality because all the sounds at marina's song are super familiar and traditional: the high tones found in rembetiko, zourna our traditional instrument, darbuka as well. All the middle eastern instruments are our traditional instruments too: Buzuki, oud, Lyra, zourna, klarino-ney, baglama, darbuka, kanun, saz, sandur. Our food is eastern, our sweets too: Baklava, kataifi, burek, imam baildi, pita, doner, dolma etc etc They are almost the same like Turkish and arabic. Byzantine music had microtones like Arabic maqamat, very similar to each other. Our appearance is more Eastern Mediterranean. When we go out to have fun we dance on cifteteli, zeibekiko, karsilama tones that are eastern. You may believe that you live in ancient Greece but since then was a great population mix and cultural interference with mostly the east. We can have easier company with a Turkish or Egyptian than a German. Because our cultures are similar. With the nation state appearance in 19 century they tried to rediscover the ancient roots and try to westernise Greece. But culture is deep and till now is more eastern. Ah and we have a lot of gypsy music too which is a great chapter in our history. And it is Eastern like because originally they come from India . Sorry that I destroy your myth
