I adopted one from a shelter that had been abused. She was scared of men and people wearing hats. She didnt have anything to do with us for the first two years until one day i caught her sleeping in a corner so i snuck up on her with some grilled chicken and gave it to her when she woke up. Ever since then she trusted me. She would just randomly seek me out to ram her head into my legs and try to knock me over. She would bark are every single noise she heard. She was getting dementia so she would jjst stare off with the saddest eyes😢 i miss that dog everyday, i pray for god to give you your neck rubs and chicken❤ i love you lady

My dad passed in december, and I adopted his pyrenees puppy who came to me at 65lbs and 6 months old. He's gonna be fucking huge. He is the quintessential pyrenees. Just a big goofy boy. PS. His name is Cayne, because he was meant to be my father's mobility support dog :)

Dude some get way bigger than the 100 pounds stated here. My male was 75 pounds at 6 months. He's 7 months now but we haven't weighed him. No GP male should ever be less than 100. 120 to 140 is a more realistic weight imo. Some get way bigger

I have two Pyrenees. If I don't feed them when they think they should be fed, one of the starts punching me and/or of the stove. That same one also turns into 100 pounds of "I don't wanna" if someone's trying to get her to do something she doesn't want to do. Just lays down and refuses to get up. lmao. They're such loyal and loving dogs.

Our Great Pyrenees has *literally* taught our pit bull the effectiveness of the Pyr paw. When we first bought him home he never once lifted a paw towards any of us. Now, after watching her for 3-4 months, the Pyr paw comes out whenever he wants cuddles. He even holds on if we haven't cuddled him long enough.

As someone with a Great Pyrenees, I can verify this is true, especially the bark, shed, and paw things- Zeus will paw at you when he wants food, pets, anything, bark at anything (especially the TV) and whenever I brush him the yard turns to a snowstorm! He is very playful, especially with his older (yet smaller) sister- he trained her to use her paws a lot 😅

I just inherited one of these beauties, a female who had been neglected, abused & had never been groomed or allowed in the house, until I got her. Her coat was a real mess, full of burs, sticks, fleas & ticks & bald spots. I'm working hard to win her trust, treating her with great respect & gentleness & it's going really well!

i have a GP redbone coonhound mix.. and he is the most emotionally conflicting dog ever. he’s very stubborn, he gets into trouble (while i was writing this he came out of the kitchen with an empty jug of milk) but he’s also super adorable, affectionate and gentle. he’s also quite literally an attention hound

My meemaw had this stray that would always come around her house and she would sometimes give it food. One day she woke up to 2 little puppies and she took them in. One was a male the other a female. The male was massive and was the most gentle dog I ever met.

You forgot to say they are Best Breed ever! I've had them for 19 years. One of my girls loved long distance hikes ...of approximately 150 yards. Then would just dramatically fall to the ground and wait for Grampy Charlie to hoist her 149 lbs up on his shoulders and carry her home. They have a sense of humor, and you know they love you if they tease you.

Haha 150 yards! That’s so funny. Tuk will let me know when he is done with a walk too and he just flops down no moving him! 149 pounds is a lot though! That’s a big pup!

I have a Pyrenees/ Anatolian Shepard that was abused and beaten when she would go into the house as a pup. I got her at 8 months old almost 6 years ago and she too this day is terrified of slick wood or any other surface she can't get traction on. Watching her work problems out, testing various floors and build confidence over the years has been amazing. I didn't know anything about her breeds and I lost a few things like seatbelts and door trim, dry wall etc. but I learned quick 😅 Over the last couple of years my health has deteriorated due to nerve damage in my chest and arm. When it gets bad and I fall she will push my Lab mutt and my Corgi Collie aside just to be close. She will either put her paw on my arm like they do and flex or lean against me until I'm on my feet. She won't leave my side until I pat her hip twice after getting on my feet. Self taught, she's just a big sweetheart. I can say "help me up" and she'll stand vigilant and wait as long as I need.

A friend of mine, a few years ago, was moving back to where she grew up, and she rent a house over the phone. Told the landlord, (an old friend) that she had 2 medium sized dogs. When she showed up with Glory Bee, and Beauregard, the landlord said, "I'd hate to see what you think are large dogs!" They were two Great Pyrenees dogs! She told him, "I didn't want to scare you"!😂😂😂😂😂😂 He rented the house to her anyway!!😊
