You can train them not to bark! I successfully trained mine not to bark unless it's a true threat. It took time, patience, and positive reinforcement.

So is it normal for roosters to be more aggressive/dominant in the morning? Mine seems to be. Like to jump on one or two hens and be the first to get food and water.

I have a great parreness i am training her to protect my chickens and training her not to run away from me when shes outside of her fenced area. Her friend is a pitpul but sadly my pitpul wont be nice around chickens my pitpul is about to be 4 and my great parreness is gonna be 1 year old in 2/3 monthes:)

My boy almost never barked unless someone came onto our property or at night when the yotes would get near the yard but would pretty much never barked unless you got inside a 3 square acre radius of our house on 15 acres, he'd very calmly just watch people or other animals go by, he just made himself known if you got too close. Also, when you say they're family, that's an understatement --they are so loving

I second this, I own a one year old Pyrenees male. This guy refuses to come in at night and is happy to stay outside all night guarding the property. Yet I bet my Nieghbour’s think I’m cruel. Like without knowing the breed just keep your mouth shut lol Great Pyrenees are built to withstand cold temperatures and hates the hot weather 😂

I have a Great Pyrenees Shepard mixed with Doberman and she is insane she’s just a puppy but she loves to use her paws and loves to play by biting she doesn’t protect things because there’s nothing to protect and she’s very friendly with everyone

I just inherited one of these beauties, a female who had been neglected, abused & had never been groomed or allowed in the house, until I got her. Her coat was a real mess, full of burs, sticks, fleas & ticks & bald spots. I'm working hard to win her trust, treating her with great respect & gentleness & it's going really well!

My meemaw had this stray that would always come around her house and she would sometimes give it food. One day she woke up to 2 little puppies and she took them in. One was a male the other a female. The male was massive and was the most gentle dog I ever met.

They do use their paws a lot for attention. My aunt’s dog did that many times for petting when I visited. Such a sweet dog too.
