I don't think it's as easy as your objective outside view concludes. Listen I agree with you, the daughter was clearly an entitled brat, but that doesn't mean her family doesn't still love her & their love for the daughter doesn't negate the love they had for the mother/victim. These things are not mutually exclusive. I don't think they have a "total disregard" I think it's probably more attune to them just trying to hold onto what they have left despite the fact that she's the reason they lost the mother. It seems to me the family is completely devastated & the only coping mechanism is try to hold onto the daughter/granddaughter despite her repugnant actions. Emotions make people delusional in the sense that they'll deny reality to cope with the pain. It doesn't excuse what she did, it doesn't excuse her very earned life sentence, I just don't think the dichotomy is as clear as you're outlining. As an outsider I see your point, but the family is clearly in a very difficult position one of which there are no good outcomes.

If you’re insane, you don’t have the capacity to cover up your crimes. I hope the jury sees through it all and holds her accountable. Even if her condition is so severe that it’s what caused her to murder her mother, then she’s sick enough to live in a mental institution for the rest of her life. Maybe your only exposure is to homeless people (many of whom are mentally ill) or your only information about mental illness is from movies? You would be surprised how many mentally ill people are out in society and you'd never guess that they are sick. Most are not dangerous. Most hide their illness because they are embarrassed or fearful or confused or in denial. It's much more complicated than she's crazy or she's not crazy. Much more complicated.

I completely agree with you. I'm so sorry about your dear mama. I also lost my mom to cancer. It's been 27 years ago and my mom was only 47. With time it gets a little easier to deal with but obviously it never goes away. Some days it's just as raw and painful as it was the day she died. Thankfully that doesn't happen too often. I do have my occasional crying fits, though. Then I remind myself that my mama is no longer in pain and she's in a much, MUCH better place...and that I WILL see her again one day. You, too will be reunited with your mom. It makes me incredibly FURIOUS when I see daughters/sons disrespect their mom. (I'm talking about good moms. Not the evil ones who abuse and neglect their children.) It sends me over the edge when an entitled spoiled brat ends up murdering their mom in a jealous fit of rage. My confusion about the responses from her grandmother relate to how she recounts: Sydney "was improving" and then "she improved even more" (after that 'one off feeling" at the farm when the doctor changed some meds) is this: in Grandma's eyes, what was she improving from? - The shock of the attack on her mother? Or a personality trait that her grandmother (and family ) actually *'had'* been aware of prior to the murder of her Mom~?

Stone cold murderer with no regard for herself or actions bcuz clearly that isnt the case with her. She is an out of control child who experienced a desperation she had not thus far and behaved in the absolute worst possible manner at the time in question. If she were as u claim it would be evident in other areas of her life and would have been. It is not, because she is not. @@goatgirl5968 True. I didn't say the opposite, what I meant is that even without a diagnosis there should have been signs, symptoms... the person doesn't just start showing all the signs overnight like Sydney seems to do in court. And from the testimonies I watched it didn't occur to me that Sydney could be schizophrenic as her reaction right after the murder wasn't one of a schizophrenic person. And she lied for months, plotted behind her parents' backs.. and yet seemed to act normally in society while putting on a pretense in court. I watched the body language expert's analysis and he said her reactions weren't ones of a mentally deranged person. I'm not new to crime stories, and most of the time when mental health is put forward at first, it appears later that it's just an excuse. Some crimes are too abject to be believed intentional, yet they are. Human nature can be surprisingly evil. But that's just my own point of view from my personal experience (reads, documentaries...etc.), everyone's free to think differently 😊

I found a blog that is on this video. . .somewhere. The High School Teacher tells all the "HELP" any High School student that is having TROUBLE in any subjects CAN ASK FOR HELP to pass the subject to get their full credits to GRADUATE High School. The other Teacher, teaches in a College and tells ALL the "AVENUES" any student(s) can take if a subject is too hard for them. . . Both Teachers stated, Sydney would "cry" [act up] to a friend and the friend took her to a TEACHER who would GO to the Teacher (chemistry?) and ASK if Sydney can RETAKE the test at another time! Both Teachers stated Sydney was USED to GETTING OTHER PEOPLE TO TAKE HER DIFFICULT SUBJECT(S) TEST(S) and HAVING OTHER PEOPLE ASK "SOMEONE" TO "GET RID OF HER PROBLEMS"; other students or other teachers! Sydney is IMMATURE! @@jeanettecoleman-mz7ie

Insane people having a psychotic episode don’t immediately make up a lie to cover their crime and stage the scene , they just aren’t thinking that way

  • @bessofhardwick9311

This is true. I'm bipolar, and I have episodes of psychosis (never violent ones, but I hear voices, see things, etc.) and I never come out of them just like that. The idea that Sydney could have had a murderous psychotic episode and then have immediately been able to try to cover up the crime says to me that she wasn't in the depths of a psychotic episode. People with psychotic illnesses are far more of a danger to themselves than they are to other people, and on the rare occasions they are violent towards another person, they typically don't even try to escape from the scene or cover up what they've done because they aren't aware that they've done something wrong. I don't know what is up with Sydney, but I'm doubtful she has Schizophrenia or Bipolar.

But if I had to talk about it on the stand, I'd be stoic. My tears I save for the times I want to reflect and let the memories flow. I don't share my tears with the world. Maybe this woman is the same way, how would you know? She obviously loved her daughter very much, she spoke sweet words about her and the memories were warm and cherished.
