Grand Teton 3 Day Backpacking Trip: Cascade Canyon/Alaska Basin/Teton Crest Trail/Death Canyon

Музыка

This video documents a 3 day backpacking trip through Grand Teton National Park that my brother and I took from August 3 through August 5 of 2020. We started at the String Lake trailhead and hiked up Cascade Canyon, turning south at the Cascade Canyon fork. The views of the Teton mountains were spectacular here, especially as we ascended Hurricane pass (10,338 ft.), which gave us a good look at the entire west side of the the range from Middle Teton to Mt. Moran and beyond. We camped near Sunset lake in the Alaska Basin, then climbed the Death Canyon Shelf following the Teton Crest Trail. The wildflowers were in full bloom, and the views of Death Canyon to the east and the Teton range to the north were amazing. We descended into Death Canyon to spend the final night. Here, we saw a bear, two moose, and a number of smaller animals (which were well fed on backpack...). The final few miles of Death Canyon offered stunning views of magnificent granite walls and jagged mountain peaks. We finished our hike following the placid Phelps Lake to the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Center.

Wow, I can practically feel the excitement rushing through my veins as I watch the hikers embark on their 3-day adventure. Cascade Canyon, Alaska Basin, Teton Crest Trail, and Death Canyon - these names bring back a flood of memories and emotions. The breathtaking landscapes showcased in this video remind me of the sheer beauty and vastness of nature. The towering mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and lush forests are sights that truly leave you in awe. I remember the sense of accomplishment and fulfillment that washed over me with every step I took along those challenging terrains. Thank you for sharing this incredible experience. Keep adventuring and sharing your amazing journeys with the world!

What a paradise on Earth - we owe such a debt to Teddy Roosevelt, John Muir, and the other great conservationists, who had the foresight to preserve these treasures forever as our national parks.

The Rockefellers bought up much of the Jackson Hole Valley to preserve it as a park for future generations. ( Too many people were building homes & ranches in the area & spoiling the pristine views.)

@@kriskabin The Rockefeller’s Mostly John Junior. The rest of the family were a little upset he gave so much of it away. Phelps lake and the land around it they did keep to their selves for a few decades. John Junior was very inspired by Frederick Law Olmstead who designed Central Park and was a conservationist that came up with the idea of Making Yosemite Valley into a national park. John Muir was pretty inspired by his Olmstead and Teddy Rosevelt fit in with it. John Junior worked with Fredericks company later on projects. Frederick also worked on John Rockefeller’s estate in northern New York.

Great job capturing the beauty of your route. It really gives a feel for the variety of terrain and the magnificent views. Of course, the explosion of wildflower color didn't hurt either. Wow! Thanks for adding the map route segments for those of us using videos like these for research and future trip planning, and letting the sounds of nature provide the soundtrack.

Now ‘this’ is almost the perfect, no background music, just ‘nature’ at it’s very best. I said ‘almost’ perfect as I am a slow hiker constantly stopping to enjoy and identify the wildflowers on the way, you show and display some on your journey. I believe that first flower is Rosebay Willow-herb, but not sure. Admiring the utter majesty of the landscape is one thing, beautiful, but take note of the botany beside you.

Nice video. The pack: since the mouse or whatever only ate the right side, I'd say your probably right handed and ate something with oil or sugar in it and it got onto the pack from your hands. Then the critter ate whatever it coudl get from the cloth and dug at it to see if there was food inside the strap. Its best to hang or bear bin the whole bag. I put mine in my tent and the mice usually try to dig right through the tent to get at my pack unless I throw some clothes over the pack. In more risky areas i hang my bag in a tree. That bag tho, ha ha. Its gotta be like 40 years old. Time for a new one anyways. Lol

Wow, Thank you so much. This is a dream of mine. A fantasy. And you have accomplished this! This has allowed me to actually see what hiking in a national park is like. I love that there is little speaking, maps used to see where you are, and where you will proceed, where camping spots are, and pointing out the specific features that hikers want to see and know about. I hope you continue this venture with other parks. And I hope u have your bear spray ready! ❤️💕♥️
