Wind River Mountains 3 Day Backpacking Trip (**NO MUSIC**): Island Lake/Indian Basin/Titcomb Basin

*This is the music free version of my other video if you prefer only the sounds of nature (...and me talking occasionally)*
This video documents a 3 day backpacking trip through the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming from July 13 through 15, 2021. We started at the Elkhart Park trailhead northeast of Pinedale, Wyoming, and followed the Pole Creek Trail to Photographer's Point where we had our first unobscured view of the entire mountain range. We continued on to Seneca Lake, starting high above the water with spectacular views of the mountains and descending next to the water's edge surrounded by steep cliffs. We made camp on the southwest side of Island Lake near a small pond with our tent situated high above the lake and displaying magnificent views into Titcomb Basin. The next day, we followed the Indian Pass trail into Indian Basin, which was full of beautiful alpine lakes and towering, rugged peaks. We climbed the saddle of Fremont Peak to reveal a spectacular panoramic view of Titcomb Basin and Indian Basin. Climbing down from the Fremont saddle involved some route finding through class 3 terrain and eventually led to the shore of Mistake Lake. We followed Titcomb Basin south next to the Titcomb Lakes, and finally returned to our same camping spot near Island Lake. The last day we backtracked the same trail we came in on. It was an amazing hike with Indian Paintbrush blooming all along the trail and great weather all three days on the trail.
Enjoy!

Fantastic job at capturing the beauty of the winds. Also, it's nice to see someone, other than myself, using an external frame backpack. I've been backpacking for nearly 50 years and that's all I've ever used and all I ever will use. Thanks for sharing.

Really nice work with the video - certainly gives a great overview of the terrain on that route. Thanks for including the map route sections; very helpful for trip planning. I loved the idea of the Fremont Pass side trip. It gives such a great view of the Titcomb Basin. Also, thanks for letting the sounds of the trail provide the soundtrack. Amazing how those small birds are so acclimated to humans that they fly right up to the camera, right?

Awesome video, I cant wait to watch it all the way through! We were backpacking the Teton Crest Trail around this time last year and the smoke was pretty bad. It looks like you had similar conditions regarding haze. Love your videos, keep up the good work!
