It is lovely seeing someone who thinks out of the box and uses his home as the experiment -come -true. Amazing brain work and then actual physical happening.

Then you end up with a population so spread out that everyone drives everywhere rather than using public transport as is more the norm for many people in the bigger towns/cities around England.

Fortunately you're not in the market for buying a home then because 90% of city people live like this.

The Australian method. Buy the block, build your own home. Very rarely in Australia are entire estates built with cookie cutter houses by the same developer. I love the fact every house on my street has it's own identity. Some houses have all the bells and whistles and some are designed more modestly.

I still like full steel beaming structure in house designs, like the one in an early episode. It just feels faster and stronger than a million screws, plates and bolts with huge loads on tiny diameters.

Quietly puzzled: absolutely fantastic usage of engineered sheet material. I do wonder about the acoustics inside the building, and if that was the reason for the concrete on the OSB floor? 🌏🇭🇲

The beams are a real weak point. They're most likely to cause all manner of grief as time takes a toll. OSB I-Beams or even more sophisticated strand beams are the answer. More expensive, but far cheaper in terms of labour saving and ultimate strength and stability.

I like that the owner has tried to push the limits using another alternative to building a house. But, I would never build a house using this building method. Laminated beams are about as far as I could go when building a suspended floor. The building process is not that well thought out with 10,000 screws to assemble the walls ?? Still not sure about the Blue Staircase ??

  • @-_James_-
    @-_James_- Жыл бұрын

Not sure why those box pieces are so small. Most of those walls could have been assembled in the factory and craned into place on site. Would have halved the time taken to raise the building.

I've had some partial board furniture and it was incredibly heavy. So I can't understand how bolts and pegs are dependable as far as holding up entire housing floors, with furniture utilities .

This has to be one of the most idiotic, overcomplicated, cumbersome, wasteful, and inefficient building systems in the world. You could have used a SIPs panel, far stronger, way way way way quicker, much lower cost, thermal broken, extremely energy efficient. Every single one of those connections is a weak point, a thermal breach. Just bizarrely overcomplicated, for a far inferior structure. Sips panels can come 8 ft x 24 ft, or custom ones up 8 ft x 40 ft and up to 24 inches thick of solid EPS foam. One panel.
