Visit ► GrandDesigns
BAFTA winning Grand Designs is widely recognised as the pre-eminent series on modern architecture and design in Britain. It was originally conceived as a documentary series presented by designer and writer Kevin McCloud that takes us into the heart of life’s great unfolding human stories, where ordinary families risk all to experiment with architecture, technology, and their own lifestyle.
Now in its 17th year, Grand Designs is one of Channel 4’s biggest returnable factual series and has grown into a global phenomenon, selling in over 100 territories. Apart from the TV series, the Grand Designs brand has also expanded to include books, a monthly magazine, architectural awards and a biannual exhibition, Grand Designs Live.

Found this show on Netflix but I was able to breeze through all the available episodes quite quickly.. very thankful I found these earlier episodes here on KZread... I’m quite surprised at how young Kevin was on these earlier videos... I didn’t think the series have been running for that long (since 1998 or so?)...

As much as I dislike the architect, I have to say that SO FAR, I like what the house looks as though it's going to be. I'm really curious to find the rest of it online and see the finished package. Someone said they saw it! (So it DOES get finished!!!!). I also have to say that I like the attitude of the 'Clients' and the free reign they believe in giving to the Architect; not being constantly on top of him and not being too worried about how long it takes. I LOVE what the husband says: "What's 6 weeks in an entire lifetime?" That is EXACTLY the right attitude to have. When you rush things, mistakes are made.

I’m 27 minutes into this thing and I can’t stand that “architect”!!! I think the proper term for him is “wanker” - (Wanker: An arrogant or pretentious person). You can add supercilious to that. And the owner/builder is not far behind. I feel very sorry for the workmen who have to put up with the vacillations of this ineffective pair of friends. I know that all these episodes always end with the house finally being finished, but I hesitate to think of what is going to be left in the path of this (probably) cautionary tale. I have never disliked someone who I don’t know but Collin!!!! This “Non Architect”, “Brother in Law” is annoying, narcissistic and very out of touch with reality. He takes for granted how his actions impact the lives, money and functioning of others. I can only hope that he’s grown and learnt from life 20 years later and gained some kind of self awareness. Bless the brother in law for putting up with Him. He had to hire the surveyor to buffer Collins inaccuracies because apparently he’s not fond of maths. My Goodness he’s exhausting I also feel like he’s sisters also a little out of touch. *Shaking my head* are they still together

three minutes in and I'm gonna stop watching this one. What a pack of tossers. "i've got more money than taste and I think concrete and glass is modernist". Even pre-millenium this is not it. Going to skip to the end to see the incomplete piece of crap and find another episode.
