The gameplay and the end-game content are great. The story though. Might be hit or miss for some people. And it might turn them off and just drop it immediately after finishing the story, without taking a sniff/peak at how addicting the end game is.

"anime junkfood" what an understatement. relink is one of the best anime games released this year and its only competition is persona 3 reload.

While i agree its a 7/10, how are bayonetta and dmc harder than gbf endgame bosses O.o? I've played all dmc games (since the ps2) and was able to beat em all, as a 8-10 year old kid lol

I replied to a similar comment, but I think I just phrased what I meant poorly. I'm saying they're easier in terms of control complexity. Bayonetta and DMC and the like have crazy extensive combo lists, while the characters in this have pretty limited combos to make them easier to understand.

Honestly, the end of the story really disappointed me. I'm someone who hates certain contrived...tropes. Since the review is spoiler free, I'll leave it free of these spoilers. The story follows after a certain point in the mobil game. It's probably a side universe though, since the story is nowhere near the mobil game story. But I do like the idea of it. The mc is basically a jack of all trades, master of none.

Agree about the story being not great, especially from my perspective as a fan of the original game for 8 years. What makes the world of granblue fantasy really fascinating is that they make really great side stories and character episodes. Ranging from hilarious, journey to self discovery and forgiving yourself, revenge story, to psychological torture. While Relink story is kept very sanitary, the original game doesn't shy away from darker stuff such as war, gore, and death. They are willing to kill off characters even if they are popular, to advance the story. Not even the main cast is immune to this, except for Gran/Djeeta and Lyria. About the gameplay being too easy, you are just not there yet. If you reach the true end game and fight against Bahamut Versa at Proud Difficulty then I think you will change your mind about the game's difficulty.

I see. I’d hope they actually give some decent writing when their game’s been around for so long. Hope some of that stuff made it into this game, it sounds like it could be neat. I probably should’ve clarified by “easier,” I was speaking in terms of control complexity in comparison to something like Bayonetta or DMC. Much shorter combo list, multiple team members instead of fighting by yourself, and sweeping super moves. I’m sure the later chapters and side missions get challenging, I just didn’t phrase it the best way.

Given that the game is almost like the "fantasy anime junk food" version of Monster Hunter, a game like this is more about the gameplay and less about the story/narrative. So I believe its best judged on those terms along with replayability. I wouldn't judge it the same way I do other more narrative based jRPGs.

I’ve played the Story demo. From reading the title before even watching your video, I can agree. 7/10 = good game. At its best, and yep. That is okay!

I don't know where you're based out of but theres this convention in Pennsylvania called TooManyGames this coming June that I think youd be interested in. This is coming out of nowhere but im just throwing it out there.

AAhh. Mobile Game: The Game at the very least, it's eye candy.

The gameplay is exceptional in this game, it is so responsive, rhytmic, satisfying, only let down by too many easy bosses, boring endgame grind and camera problems. This not a 7/10 game, if you like gameplay and satisfying rpg mechanics (build variety etc) first and foremost. A lot of potential if the player base remains somewhat decent.
