How do you clean the copper pipe in the chiller from leftover water? The water in my area is very hard so it seems like a good idea. My manual simply says to consult this video.

+Laust Christensen We recommend to run high performance cleaner through the chiller after use and then allow the remaining water to drain out of the chiller before storage.Leaving the chiller on the Grainfather after cleaning will allow the water to run back into the Grainfather.

Hi, I just received my grainfather and (as the High Performance Cleaner is not available in my country) I bought 5star PBW to clean it. How much of it should I use per cleaning cycle? On its label it says "use 7 to 14 g per litre warm water for general cleaning". What made me thinking is the amount of water you suggest to be used for the cleaning. In grainfather's manual you recommend using 7.5 litres of water per cleaning cycle but in this video you're using twice as much - 15L. Which one is the correct number? Even if I go with the lower number (7.5L), it still gives me 50 to 100 grams of PBW per cleaning cycle and up to 200 (!) grams if I use as much as 15 litres of water, as stated in the video above. That sounds like a ridiculously high amount of the cleaner. ;) Could you please clear it out for me a bit as this gets me really confused and can't wait for the first brew using my new equipment. :) Thanks in advance!

+SM We suggest to follow the instructions on the product label per 7 L of water and stick with recommended heating temp of 55 degrees. We can advise that PBW is safe to use, but can't really comment on what amount to use as it is not our product. For more information we would recommend contacting the manufactures of PBW for more information.

Hi! Do I understand correctly that you do not do any cleaning after pumping the wort into the fermenter, other than removing the trub at the bottom? You just add water and the cleaning powder and start this? Thanks!

Hey Kevin, yes that correct. Just remove the trub and rinse out, then follow the instructions on the Grainfather Cleaner. You may need to use a sponge to remove any dirt on the inside of the walls of the units. If there is any hard to remove dirt, please soak the unit for 30 minutes before you wipe away. Hope this helps?

The counterflow cooler that comes with the latest grandfather.

@@frankiepitt9135 You would clean it as shown in the video, then when brewing after the boil you recirculate the wort for 10 mins and this will sterilise the chiller before you begin the transfer. This video will help show this; kzread.info/dash/bejne/ppyAzJtqdLWeoJc.html
