    I love this system what would really be great just like the fermenters to have the cooling system built in the G40 instead of the extra counter flow

    I have a question by using the wort to "sanitize" the chiller aren't you risking contamination considering the wort is not boiling at this stage. especially since the chiller may have been previously used and old wort is a breeding ground for bacteria ( yes even after thoroughly cleaning it ) there will still be standing water in it which will take ages to dry. please correct me if I'm just concerned.

    My question is, after whirlpooling the trub drops to the middle and that is where the drain to the pump is, yes??

    Thanks for the great video. You mentioned using less spices than proposed - is this reflected in the recipe you put up in the Grainfather recipes?

    Sounds lovely! For the sparge water I just heat and treat the total amount of water needed for the brew in my G40 and transfer the sparge amount over to a bucket before mashing in.

    Great idea and thanks for your feedback on this, we don't have a video just yet but I will be sure to pop a request for this to our marketing team. In the meantime, one of our retailers- Malt Miller has a video on the G70 V2 that may be of use to you. I hope this helps!

    Loved seeing the new brew and also how Grainfather staff use the equipment. I couldn’t see the glycol chiller but am interested in the air lock transfer set-up and the lengths undertaken to purge and remove O2 from the corny before filling.

    I think you loose market share because your system isn't modular . I dont want your pump or your chiller. I already have better ones. Why would I pay for that when I dont need it?

    I have just bought one of these. When i try to heat up water it is fine. As soon as i add the grain, i keep getting an error (e4) and the bottom of the kettle is burnt. How to avoid this? I feel like this machine is just not good for the purpose….

    The sparge is too fast. The grain bed collapsed snd reduces my efficiency. Anyone know how I can maintain the grain bed and sparge slowly so I can rinse out mist of the sugars?

    I get a little confused with hop additions, especially hop stand hops. Should you be taking out the bittering hops at the end of the boil when you go to cool the wort down to hop stand temperature? Before adding the hop stand hops? Or does your calculator take this into consideration the extra time the bittering hops are left in?

    Hi everyone, does someone know the refrigerant type of liquid used in this device ? R134a, R290 ? Is it able to cold crash one conical fermenter while stabilising another one at 18°C ? (Room temperature about 22°C / 30liters fermenters)

    Great video Just wondering, how do you know when the heart run ends, and the tail starts? I'm going to make grappa with this alembic still. Hope it comes out well. Thank you

  • @trousers2
    @trousers2 Жыл бұрын

    Not the OP just a fellow distiller here. I've found towards the end of the hearts/start of the trails you'll find a huge amount of flavour and those flavours will change quite quickly, but eventually even though there's a lot of flavour it'll start to taste 'off'. I think the answer to your question is really up to you - taste the spirit quite often when you think you are getting close, and when it gets to a point where you realise 'i wouldn't drink that on its own', you're now into the tails. Still collect them though and use them for another wash that's similar, you might squeeze a bit more good product out of them when they're in another run. Hope that helps!

  • @derekblaas4572

    In the video, you see the last two tails run bottles are cloudy? Those are the tails. The first tails bottle might still be hearts as it was still clear.

    I like the system so far, but I find it hard to get all my sparge water into the grain basket without it sitting in the wort. I can't get complete drainage of the basket. I wish the supports were lower on the basket. Brewing 10g is a bit of a challenge. I notice that the video brews a very small amount.
