What a beast. I was shocked to see him in a jersey that wasn't for the Sharks or Team Canada. Get this guy a Stanley Cup for God's sake

One of the most respectable players in my era of hockey. And I am a Red Wings fan, so you maybe remember some important goals he has scored against my team. Nothing but respect for this guy!

Fantastic, its still hard for me believe he's here in Toronto now. As a kid, he was always one of those players who I thought who would only ever play for one team.

Marleau's a beauty. I know how much he means/meant to Sharks fans and the city. As a Leafs fan I really appreciate that he's on our team. He's fantastic. Last game against the Bruins he scored his 516th career goal moving him past Pierre Turgeon for 38th all time.

God Bless Patrick Marleau, one heck of a classy player. I really wanted to him to finish his career in San Jose because of how much the fans loved him and what he did for the Sharks organization, however I think it's kind of cool to see him in a Leafs uniform. Let's pray he gets a Cup with Toronto!!!

Sharks organization and fans showed a lot of class. They were lucky to have him for 20 years, and the Leafs are very lucky to have him now. He might just be the most liked player on the team and the fans here appreciate what he brings to our young, up-and-coming team. His experience is a great asset for the young guys alongside him. Did I mention, he has still got game! Thank you San Jose!

I still proudly wear his jersey to every Sharks game! Also proud to be a day one Sharks fan.

Seeing this now, especially of that final clip at 1:18 is both really sweet and really hurts. Those were my four guys, all gone from San Jose. Joe, Jumbo, Marleau and now my favorite player in the league, Burnzy. I know they didn't win a Cup, but that crew will always hold a special place as the Sharks I fell in love with.

I cane here after that Tavares thing tonight. This is how you do it. Pens fan.

He gave them everything he had for 20 years. He deserves a Cup after all this time and it gave me shivers when the announcer said "20 Years" it brought back so much to me maybe as much as to Patrick Marleau. We both were a lot younger then, but I wish I had made better decisions and he made all the right ones. I'm not saying I know Marleau personally, but boy do I know him emotionally.

For a franchise that was late to the party, the SJ fans get what it means to have a star player..Props to them all...

This kind of class you don't see in other big sports.

Jim Osborne i highly doubt anyone would want to play for the sharks.. Marleau left a bad management organization. Since marleau was drafted the sharks has always been a disappointing team in the playoffs. Its good thing marleau left to join the leafs. What a disgrace sharks are. They stripped marleau Captain and gave it to Thornton.. Now thornton C has been taken off. I think you have your words twisted around. I bet any of those shark players wished they were either on the leafs or any other team.

Tarek Taher Why would anyone willingly play for the Maple Leafs aka the laughing stock of the NHL?? Sharks have been a couple lucky bounces away from a Cup run multiple times. Just wait till we pick up Tavares in the offseason, Sharks are taking the cup this year or next!

efrainthegreat i can certainly tell you dont watch hockey. Couple bounces.. Im sure. They blew more series than any other teams in the nhl.. They only made finals once in thier franchise history lol. Sharks are again to start rebuilding. Thornton most likely will be shipped off or retire. Why do you think marleau left the sharks. You nothing about hockey. If you have watched hockey, you would know leafs have become nhl top competitive teams. Anyways your a moron and wont bother wasting my time with you

I got goosebumps all over this whole time, what a great way to start of the game, and what a great montage for such a great guy.

As far as I'm concerned as a very grateful Leafs fan, Marleau deserves the "C". It's been years since somebody had the C and I can't think of a better leader, on and off the ice to darn it. We are so very lucky to have him!! Well done with this tribute, this man deserves it and more :)
