The wooden piece you thought was a bird house was actually a butterfly house. Vertical slits give it away. Nice door in back to add food to entice them and then to clean out. Hope that helps!

The piece of wrapped candy would look cute in a valentine display. You could tie like the red and white twine on each end. It would look cute. Or even on tiered tray. Also could be used in a Christmas display for those people that decorate in a gingerbread or candy theme Christmas display. Just an idea or two. Thanks for taking us shopping with us.

How chip- and crack-prone dishes are depends on the type of ceramic mostly. Earthenware and stoneware cracks easily. Real porcelain consists of finer materials and is burned at higher temperatures. Therefore it's a lot more durable. It's usually thinner and a little translucent. I'd never use stoneware items on an everyday basis but just as decoration. Those two porcelain plates with the cheese decor (2:20) were made in the factory I had my professional education at. Nice to see them again. The design might be outdated but they are so-called "German hard porcelain" and a good quality.

The round Covington dish did not come with a lid. I had the whole set in blue when I got married and kept that dish and the gravy boat and saucer. I use that round dish for dipping french toast and sometimes as a serving dish. The set was purchased through a grocery store promotion where they offered certain pieces each week for a few months. I really like it in the pink! They only had it in blue when I bought mine.

Nesting Haven - the plastic-wrapped, round, green platter with all the separate dishes on top that you asked about (13:30) is typical Mexican pottery used for serving all the salsas and such. The one you came across was not high quality or anything special. $15 may actually have been on the high side for that in a Goodwill... A quality piece would be signed, Talavera, and have much more refined painted details with possibly some raised elements like a paint dot - like you sometimes see on Lenox china for example.

Shopping at Goodwill you have to be very cautious. We have a goodwill here in Minnesota and I don't really go to it as things are priced so high for used items. Think that the good stuff goes towards staff first and what is left over goes on shelves. Its best to be cautious.

Love your video. Personally, I can't stand breaking up sets, unless something in the set is damaged to the point of no return. Buying the sugar and creamer away from an existing set? The horror!

I recently picked up some vintage salt and pepper shakers with a frog and yellow flower on the front of them. The bottom says Sears roebuck and one has a Japan sticker. Not going to sell them right now and they are joining my S & P shaker collection. Exciting!

It is really odd right now for sure. I hope your finances are not effected by all this. It’s a good thing to be able to stay home right now though. Stay safe! We will be back to thrifting soon! 💕

Just picked up that same milk glass vase at the Portsmouth ,NH Goodwill this week for $2.00. I would definitely have passed for $6.00. I think your glass wrapped candy was a paperweight. I have some of the smaller ones that are made by Murano. There are cheap imitations from China though. Jeffrey at Real Nifty Vintage has some of the small Murano ones as well. They are just pretty in a crystal bowl. So, yes, some people do like to decorate with wrapped glass candy pieces, lol !

Sometimes the glassware can be cleaned up with a bit of sandpaper. A finer grit and a little water ...perhaps 1000 grit or 1500 as a final touch. Ceramics ...?

Crystal does not ding when flicked. Glass only makes a sound if it is thin. So says Dr Lori PHD of antiques.

I hear a ding on crystal. Glass sounds more clunky too me.

The wooden $10- item you liked but not sure what it was...it is a butterfly house. You hang it outside. Usually quite pricey and hard to find.

The red ware pottery dish is a candy or nut dish that l would definitely like to have not sure who makes it but l am 56 and my grandmother used to have one and she died at age 101 and every christmas it was filled with mixed nuts and the center had the hardware to remove the nuts.

I couldn't believe you passed up the Corningware French White casserole with its lid. I use them myself and never seem to find them. And, I think the basket thing was a butterfly house. I would have picked it up. ~ Lisa

It's a butterfly/ladybug house. It is good to attract and house beneficial insects and pollinators.
