I've always read that you should boil roots to extract nutrients. Only leaves should be steeped and not boiled. Just steeping roots makes for a very weak tea. Boil roots on medium to low flame for 10-15 minutes. Edit to add: There are always exceptions. Soursop aka Graviola leaves are best boiled because they are tougher and more fibrous than average leaves.
