I wish it was 1983 again, going to the football with my dad on Saturday and fishing on the Sunday. I really miss my dad .
I miss Brian Moore's commentary.... he was the sound of English football in the 80's & 90's

Best commentator because he clearly loved the game and didn't pretend to be an expert technically. Supported Fulham and sometimes had to commentate on them while they were being hammered. Said this was the hardest part of the job. RIP.

He supported Gillingham not Fulham. He was a director at Priestfield.

60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.
Clive Allen's goal.. that's some Bergkamp level magic, there.
Bryan Robson was a real powerhouse in midfield,....and had everything,..pace, strength, skill, great engine,....and .could score a goal or two,was ferocious and brave in the tackle,...to brave at times,..he was the complete midfielder......a definite £100m + player , if he played today....great player
“Quite a dozen!” Settle down Brian 😂😂 Seriously though I loved football in the 80’s. The game still had its soul.
That took me back..even the kits were better
Love these videos, I saw the United goals live, still love Robbo's gorgeous header. BIG THANKS for uploading!
Martin O’Neil’s goal!!!

The Kop applauded that goal. I was one of them.
Brian Moore was the best EVER commentator on ITV, a million times better than Sam Matterface.
Danny Wallace was a very good player.

Yes, he was. Pity his career was cut short by multiple sclerosis.

I miss both Brian Moore and Jimmy Hill very different styles but both deeply knowledgable and and very passionate about the game. Both MOTD and The Big Match followed the same format, three games sometimes one from the lower divisions and without the endless punditry that we have to endure today, they sometimes had a brief interview with the managers after the game and the only time I remember players being routinely interviewed was after the cup final.
Things were very different 38 years ago
Don Rogers did that every time for Swindon when they played Watford. He'd get away near the half way line, speed away and that was that, in the net. Terrific goal by Osgood. As a youngster he was the tops, but after breaking his leg he wasn't quite the same, if I remember well.
the problem with the so called big match football program was it was very London centred for its main matched.
what a pass by Kilcline for the first one GOAL A
Just watched a game last week between Liverpool and Man City and four of the goals in that one game would be top of this list

Edmund Power but could they score those goals on these pitches here...I doubt it..pitches now are like bowling greens...oh and the balls are lighter.... Designed that way...and no physical play to worry about... Oh but you can always dive to get a Pen or free kick...that's ok

Agreed WELLBRAN , the pitches were chronic back then

On those pitches with that type of defending. Some 70/80s defenders where thugs first and footballers second. These goals are class as are the strips.
Clive allen was quality

A modest man and brought this to a football pitch. Saw he from a schoolboy to a full pro and a class apart on most occasions. People have gone further on half his talent.

Class act and a proper gent. Always made it look so simple.
When team buses had optics.
"B Gary Walsh Luton" Paul Walsh you mean Gary was a goalie for Man Utd
3.55 I didn't know Hitler was a referee ⚽️
Stapleton's followed by Robbo's.

Not all of them
What about wee Archie Gemmell against the red schisters
Case's smasher took some beating & I'm no fan of B&HAFC either. Similar to Paul Power's two years before for Man City.
How grim was that? Half empty stadiums, shit pitches, no diversity and mostly mediocre players.

Get fucked pal. That era was a million times better than this bullshit era.
