I still believe jaleel white should have been as big as Will Smith today. He was very underrated!

He didn't rap or sing. He also didn't have Will Smith's movie star looks. Charisma wasn't on the same level as Smith either.

He should’ve embraced playing a nerd but instead he let it ruin him. If he had a better sense of self he would be a legend because he is super talented!!!

He got typecast as the nerd, even though the character was popular, no one identified with him, he was popular because the character was obnoxious and lame. I don’t think he ever played another role as big as Urkel. Will Smith was a rapper and he went on to star on some big pictures.

How fast he could switch from Jaleel to Urkel was amazing. That kid completely created that character himself with little direction, and at such a young age! And he was never conceited about it and never acted like he was a big stuck-up star.

SteelStreet Videocrew1 yeah. I always wondered though, what the direction the show could’ve taken if they didn’t just focus on Urkel’s antics. It became a more and more a kiddie show and got silly with chamber, turning into Bruce Lee, Elvis etc.

  • @ghanasoul

Julian Davis of course not. It NEVER would’ve had the longevity it had if the character of Urkel didn’t take off. B4 he came along, it was basically a generic spin-off, Cosby show clone. Urkel’s character comes along then they shifted to him cuz he was the money-maker. It’s all bout the green. Why would they have Jaleel perform in character at the Emmys? They never had any other actor do that b4. He was a product. Urkel appeared on Step By Step, Full House, had a doll, a breakfast cereal, and i think a board game. He was kind of like the 90s “JJ” if u think bout it. The only difference is the actors never beefed and they were smart enough to stay on the show til the end and get their bread.

Hollywood helped divide us into 2 or more. They don't want people to have good ol days like these. They'd rather have Bea dead and Jaleel telling people that white people like Bea are white supremacists wanting police to kill him. Which is a complete lie. We love all people we simply like the culture aspects, obviously not the bad ones, we had in the 80s that all of us loved, except them because it didn't fit their dystopian dreans. We want the Winslows & Tanners living next to each other having BBQs but even people like the Seavers don't do that anymore. Many small aspects of our lives and culture have been used to divide us. If we can't even agree someone has a right to wear a hat how are we supposed to agree on ANYTHING and get along?

Why do Black people do / say xyz, why do White people think xyz) KEEPING IN MIND THAT NO ONE TRAIT IS EXCLUSIVE TO ALL MEMBERS OF A GROUP....Much of what we see and referred to is stereo typical am not typical and much more dependent on other factors not raise as far as why behavior or thought is so. But the thing is we have to be real enough to be honest. And we have to ask sincerely interested in the answer and what the other person has to say. We can work it out then. Loved her on Golden Girls when they made both of these they had the perfect characters in these sitcom's. Dorothy had some rythm you have to love Bea Arthur she was laid back and down to earth. R.I.P. BEA ARTHUR and Blanche. At least we still have Betty White almost close being 100.
