Alfonso starred in the Tap Dance Kid on Bway alongside Michael Jackson. Back then I read that as young as he was he picked on the steps faster than MJ. I went to see it and I liked the show very much.

An iconic TV moment. That dance is among the most recognizable choreography ever, and Ribeiro owns it.

Alfonso came into this with a huge advantage, he has a dance he is famous for and he knows the crowd was waiting for it on top of being an excellent dancer already

I'm the same age as Alfonso Ribero, so I watched him as a kid. I had a huuuuuge crush on him when he was on Silver Spoons and I started watching Fresh Prince because of Alfonso, not Will Smith. He always danced before so I think a lot of his same-age fans know his background, but it's cool to see that he is more well-known for it now. I'm sure this show helped.

When they did the Carlton then moved on to their dance, no sooner did I say to my husband, "They missed a part!" that they did the slide part of The Carlton! I felt even happier that the whole dance got shown. All that was missing is the candle that Carlton sang into when he 1st danced it on Fresh Prince.

He admitted that he mentally went back to his fresh prince days while doing this, and ended up pulling a muscle that he didn’t notice until later because of how far in the zone he was.

I can't say it enough how much I just start to smile/laugh when he starts doing his dance. The others contestants didn't have a chance after that.

I have never seen an adult man happier than all the times Alfonso did the Carlton dance.

the first time I saw Carlton do it in 1991, when I was 4-years-old, I knew I had to try it out and continued practicing for years as I saw him do it and became quite easy after following each step but of course I still can’t do it as well as Alfonso, the master and inventor of it. For a beginner it is very hard to do because you need to make 4 body movements at the same time with your legs, hips, arms, and head.

People really don't understand how good of a dancer Alfonso really is. He danced with Michael Jackson in a Pepsi commercial in the 80's.

yes he got started very young and apparently had good parents to be so grounded .

Nobody will ever do the Carlton , like him. He just has that magic touch. I used to watch him on the fresh prince, when he did this and how they played it off like he couldn't dance, even though he's been a amazing dancer since he was a child.Love him

He is a professional dancer He starred in the Broadway musical "The Tap Dance Kid" 40 years ago. The Carlton and "World's Funniest Home Videos" came later.

Other than Julianne and Apollo dancing to "Physical" -- this is one of the *BEST* routines on DWTS, ever!
