I absolutely loved Family Matters when I was a kid. It almost hurts watching this reunion because you take a step back and realize just how old we all are now... I mean for me? I was just a kid... not to mention my Mom, Grandma, and Grandpa were all still alive when I watched this show... now they're all gone and I'm almost 43 years old! Where does all the time go!? It really does go by so fast... and you know good wholesome shows like this one just DO NOT exist anymore. Family values and morals are gone anymore... It's really sad to see how things have changed since this show was on the air... I will always and forever miss the 80's and 90's... As far as I am concerned, those will always be the best moments in time... at least in my life anyway.

Jaleel White was very talented to only be 12 years old. He played all those characters perfectly. I also think "Myra" was worth being remembered in this reunion. She was also a great actor. I just started watching, and I’m hoping they honor Myra. She was such a beautiful soul and I remember my mother talking to us about her death when it happened. Ovarian cancer runs in our family and my mother wanted us to know the importance, as women and particularly as women of color (indigenous), of those regular health checks and of demanding we be treated equitably if we had symptoms that needed to be checked out. My mother truly believed that her color contributed greatly to the outcome; I don’t know if that was true, but I have certainly always remembered Myra and made sure to be tested for the gene (I didn’t have it) once we could.

This country needs MORE sitcoms and LESS bs like Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Teen Mom. So, for those commenting on a reboot, you've got my vote! We were ALL fortunate to grow up in the TGIF era! Each episode of each show had a moral to the story. Like Telma said during this interview, there were always hidden "nuggets" to learn from. The difference between then and now... you rarely had episodes about race or politics. But when they did, you got a gem like Good Cop Bad Cop. Quite possibly my favorite episode Family Matters ever produced. It's a toss up between that, and The Substitute Son. Two classics!!!

Even when things were pretty bad for me I knew that at least once a week I could tune in and forget about everything for a while .. You all will have a very special meaning to me .. Today life is great .. but if it wasn't for this amazing cast I might not of stuck around to see it .. Also thanks for this reunion .. I always thought the way you all bonded on screen wasn't just an act ... and now I know that's true ... Once again thank you so very much ..!! Sincerely . Tim

We must learn to live in the present and enjoy today because it's just as good. remember tomorrow is not promised to any of us so why worry about the past when it's already gone? Let's just enjoy today for what it's worth because its what we have and it can be just as nice if we are willing to allow it to be. Food for thought.

Definitely. At this point, I'd say he's underrated because it was a family show that people don't compare to more classic adult themed shows, but his comedic chops, both physically and acting wise, were as good as it gets.

I swear, I will never understand how this and Fresh Prince never had a proper crossover. We got James Avery in one random appearance on Family Matters, but as himself, not as Uncle Phil. We also got Jaleel on Fresh Prince, but as a different character, though arguably acts a lot like Stefan. I just wish we could have had some awesome moments like Laura, Hilary and Ashley going shopping, Waldo and Jazz acting goofy, Will and Eddie going to talk to girls, Uncle Phil and Carl eating together while bonding over law and crime fighting, or probably one of the most potentially funny scenarios, Carlton teaching Urkel the Carlton dance. So many missed opportunities.

Crossovers are usually done to help promote both shows. This wouldn't of happened with Family Matters and Fresh Prince as they were on competing networks. Family Matters was on ABC and later CBS and The Fresh Prince was on NBC.
