With so much going on with the build we thought it would be good to give you an update of our progress to date, with full build videos coming in the next few weeks when we can complete some of the projects (Kitchen, Bathroom, Power, Stairs and a million other jobs).
Love to see you in the comments and thanks for watching!

Busy, busy, busy. They say it's better to wear out than to rust out. Thanks for the video.

I made a comment after your last video about the Domestic Sewerage Treatment Plant we installed on our acreage, and I was kind of surprised to see what you have. Ours was a huge concrete tank divided into 3 compartments and the effluent made its way through all 3 compartments, the last one was almost pure clean water, and the only working parts of it were an aerator and a pump to empty the last tank when it got too full. The damn thing had to have 16,000 litres of water put in it as soon as it went into the ground to stop it from popping out if we copped a lot of rain. Keep up the good work, it's looking the goods 👍

Haha.....I have several of those 'volumes' full of Wendy's specifications from projects over the years. I always hate it when Wendy checks my work. There's always something that I've forgotten to take into account. She's always right, I'm always wrong. That's the part I hate LOL.😆 Regarding the electrical connection between the shed and the cabin, you may find that it's cheaper (or not much more expensive) to have a separate solar array/inverter for the cabin. The cable you will need for that 90m is pretty expensive. With a separate system, you'll also avoid the power fluctuations that may occur when something's running in the cabin and some machinery or welder starts in the shed. Just a thought.

I am so glad I came across your channel. You are so calm in your approach to all the challenges and it is very uplifting to see you both building the dream of your tree change. I very much look forward to more episodes. I do not normally binge watch these kinds of vidoes but I did with your off grid series, watched it over two nights. You have given me some great ideas for what my wife and I are currently doing. My wife and I have done a tree change to the mountain areas of Cebu in the Philippines. We have only finished our shed, which we live in with our 87 rescue animals and next step is to build the cabin for us to live in. We moved from the huge cities of Hong Kong and Manila to live our dream of rescuing animals here in the Philippines and to eventually be off grid such as yourselves. Many challenges had and many more to go.

Great stuff, Scott. I am living vicariously through you and the Mrs. One point. If you trench and run power from the work shed, won't the voltage drop cause issues at the cabin. Might check with your electrician or Solar Pro. May need a buck/boost transformer to smooth out the "bumps". Best to you and the family. Cheers! Tom

Thanks Tom! I've just used some on line calculators for voltage drop and I should be okay if I use thick enough cable (16mm). I still need to do some more research on pros and cons. I need to decide very soon. All the best.

Scott - even what you consider to be "modest" updates are enjoyable - keep them coming (but don't stress when you can't post for a while!). You take on projects that even my wife would admit are crazier (more ambitious - my words) than the projects I attempt. For the power have a look at using aluminium cable with xlpe insulation. I just paid about $5 per metre for 95mm2 Al, you would need to use 50mm conduit for two cores and slightly higher cost to terminate the ends but overall much cheaper than copper.

Fantastic work, Scott, it's looking great! 😃 We just installed 10 solar panels here at home, over the higher roof. And something really interesting happened... The place up there used to be hot as heck! I was going to install an AC, because it's going to be my woodworking and electronics lab... But now, I guess I won't need it anymore! From what I've talked to smarter than me friends, it's because of a few factors. First, some of the light is converted to energy, leaving less heat. Second it's the separation (around 7cm to 3" +/-), which allows for wind... And there's the shadow it causes. But I honestly got really surprised! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Nice work guys. Great to have a sneak peak of what is up and coming with the videos. Appreciate that it's a lot of work- content and editing. We are also looking to purchase the AES septic system for our build. Can I ask if you were able to purchase direct from AES, or did you have to go thru a distributor?
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious
7 ай бұрын
Thank you! For our AES; we had to hire a earth (soil test) and septic design specialist because we are less than 50m from a gully. The system was designed and I am contracting a plumber to install as per the design. Council approved etc. The parts were bought via the plumber so I'm not certain about if they come from an AES distributor. Hope this helps.

@@ScottTurnerformeindustrious You have to be aware of two things: 1) The fermenter has to be COMPLETLY free of air. Otherwise you are in danger of explosion 2) if you want to generate power you can use the gas as is. But if you want to use it inside your house you need to wash out Ammonia and Hydrogen sulfide or you might risk gas poisioning.
Just built a house here in nsw for a client and they chose gas because due to basics requirements they couldn’t do electric hot water without 3 million solar panels. Gas isn’t going yet. Get some no more gaps in your v groove sheet joins they stand out a bit. Keep up the push mate 👊🏻💪
