Tony is NOT kidding about all that collateral damage. They are forsure doing it on purpose. Tony mentioned it briefly, but that scene with the bridges??? Godzilla dives into the river, but then comes up so that only his back spikes are sticking up outta the water. So, as he's swimming, he's destroying bridge after bridge after bridge. I remember noting that in the theatre, like damn, fuck all these people I guess lmaooo.

Imagine going to work that day being pissed that you gotta deal with dumb-ass Frank in middle-management then suddenly you gettin' tossed.

Amazing movie. So much fun. Seen it twice. Minus one budget was under 15 mill. So that 50 60 mill is alot. And it was in less theaters than godzilla x kong with less promotion. Both were great. Great time to be a godzilla fan.

First, as a long time Godzilla fan, I loved both movies, I feel like a lot of people didn't go see Minus One because it was subtitle only. But another reason is the current climate of the world. People might just be looking for a fun escape from war, financial disparity, and the climate crisis, not so much a reflection of it, and the marketing for this movie was CRAZY FUN!

Godzilla minus one is true to the origin of Godzilla and American Godzilla is true to the monsterverse. Both are great in their own way. Although I think Godzilla minus one is the superior film.

I missed seeing Godzilla minus one at the cinema ( work schedule ) so I'll get on dvd or watch it when it comes to amazon-prime.Been watching movies on prime quite a bit.

Saw Godzilla x Kong this week. It was action packed. Glad I found this review because Tony gives fair critique.

Godzilla Minus One is one of the greatest movies of all time‼️ As far as its initial opening day, it opened in select theaters and possibly only in IMAX theaters. And then a lot of folks probably were thrown off by subtitles…spoiled by the American versions which have turned into Fast & Furious 😂but still cool.

This review just completely made me wanna watch it now. Battling under the Jesus statue sent me😂😂😂

I had a good time with this film! I wasn't crazy about the CGI, mainly when Skar King was around. Godzilla minus 1 was dope, especially his atomic breath... He was almost as terrifying as Shin Godzilla!

I was all abt Godzilla. I like Kong, but I’m all abt Godzilla. Especially when Kong came to earth and Godzilla came and dove at Kong, mannnnnnn I was hollering. Like Godzilla was definitely saying “man wtf you doing up here?”Plus I love the end fight. I’m sorry but I didn’t give a fudge abt buildings and etc. it was actually a good fight vs some of these fight scenes in action movies be lacking a lot of action. Also I loved seeing Godzilla go back to the coliseum to go back to sleep. I was laughing. I thought that was adorable, that he made his own bed out of it. It was a 5/5 for me. Also like you said the humans wasn’t annoying. This version of Godzilla reminds me of my cat. When she’s up, she’s wrecking shit but for the most part she just wants to sleep and be left alone. That’s Godzilla. He gets up, fight and then go back to sleep and be like “wake me up next time there is a monster, until then, leave me alone “. I feel that. Although I was all about Godzilla I was happy Kong found his kind. My heart broke when Kong signed to the little girl something like “home gone away”or “no longer have home “. Something like that. It was a great time and I loved it. Going to see it again before it’s out of the theaters.

Godzilla Minus One was a great movie, didn’t get enough exposure. I learned about it from someone else.

Was a great movie overall. Movie was more central around Kong; was more of his life story finding family etc. Godzilla was more of a feature but good nonetheless. But yoooo.. the whole movie Godzilla was like” who want smoke?!” Godzilla was wearing black forces in a nutshell..He was a menace n I love it 🤣🤣😮‍💨

Loved The New Empire. That inner kid who wanted to see monsters jack up a city with insane feats of strength and power loved this movie. As few humans as possible, Kong conveying scenes without words. Critics need to dial it down and just enjoy a monster fight.

I think it was the subtitles and movie setting that threw most people off. I’m used to both and watch a lot of foreign films. But most of my friends I invited to go with me declined. The only ones who accepted were my crunchroll gang.

The thing about Godzilla Minus One is that it had a very limited run, less theaters, and less marketing than this one, so it makes sense that it didn’t do as well.

Your too nice in your review of this movie Tony!!! I need to see you crack that whip a little more! Maybe it's the fact that I was So impressed with Godzilla Minus One, I really didn't enjoy Godzilla X Kong. As a Godzilla fan more so than a Kong fan, I too felt it was more of a Kong movie and Godzilla just made some cameos to help out his sort of buddy. I felt that the villan monsters were un impressive. Scar by himself was really no match for Kong if not for the help of the White dragon that looks more like a girls's unicorn toy. There was no real villan to truly challenge Godzilla, it was a waste of his time to be bothered by these monsters. I'm not even going to purchase this movie when it streams. Hopefully the Next Hollywood Godzilla / Kong movie is more Godzilla orientated with a couple of Godzilla's traditional nemasis. Godzilla vs. Kong I felt was pretty good & Mecha Godzilla was off the chain!! Let's see more stuff like that!!!! Meanwhile I'm anxious to see what Toho Studios and Director Takashi Yamazaki cook up next!!! Final Note: It's because of Godzilla x Kong that Godzilla Munus One hasn't been released on streaming yet world wide. I think the DVD version will be available soon only in Japan. All this so that Minus One doesn't compete with the Hollywood revenue. It's a shame I have to wait so long to purchase Godzilla Minus One because of such a poorly concieved hollywood version. Hollywood better get it's act together and make a better Godzilla movie next time. Peace...

I saw both this one and minus one, minus one was pure cinema, it gave me a perspective on a section of history that I knew about but never really put much thought into and it pulled me into those characters lives. Godzilla x Kong was a fun movie, but I'd say it's not as deep.

Ppl don’t want to read the subtitles. I watched Godzilla Minus One twice. It was phenomenal!! ❤

I saw Godzilla Minus One twice. Once in color and then again in B&W and was getting tense all over again and tearing up all over again. I can't wait to purchase it. As for this movie, I might catch it on a Bargain Tuesday. I keep hearing it is a good time. I tapped out after the first Godzilla in the monster verse with them only showing snippets of him. Loved Kong Skull Island though.

Biggest difference with gxk vs minus one was the minus one couldn’t attract kids. Foreign language and story had more weight. My 7 year struggled to make it through minus one but loved gxk. Get the kids get the box office numbers.

Godzilla -1 wasnt really pushed in the media like GxK was. -1 got more traction on the BACK end when people realized it was actually a good movie… but this wasnt pushed by Hollywood.

Great review. Kong is a true character in the film and Godzilla is the embodiment of nature’s power. Great fight scenes and the destruction the monsters caused honestly horrified me. The film is really Kong’s story. Kong’s journey is poignant and he had the best dramatic scenes. Every other character-including Godzilla and the humans-are supporting characters. The humans were not annoying for once. I liked it more than I thought I would.

Tbf, they blew up his temple/home so it's only right he gets to sleep in the Colosseum 😂. Big G the GOAT

The difference between this movie and Godzilla Minus One is the marketing domestically, and of course it being Japanese. Most movie goers here are super *American* lol.

I have been such a fan of both Godzilla and Kong all my life especially Godzilla. I used to love Godzilla so much that I would watch the black and white subtitle Godzilla flicks. #LongtimeFan 😂😂😂

There's sumthin more endearing about Kong that ppl really gravitate towards. Esp by them showing him in a big bro/Father figure type role. They gave him a ton of screen time and them sort of delving into him finding his kin was awesome to see. Godzilla is always Godzilla..the Big Dawg on campus. He's always standing on bidness and ready to show everybody who's runnin shyt. I've always been a huge Godzilla & Kong fan so I absolutely Luvd the movie!

I saw Godzilla Minus One in theaters and it is a favorite of mine. I am glad it won an Oscar. It should have been nominated for Best Foreign Film. Godzilla has a better characterization in the Japanese films.
