I think a big thing overlooked is Kratos' theme. His musical motif is always that dark, heavy chant. But with that last panel it is is lighter and full of hope symbolizing his change, showing that he is not who he was but is now a man and god who can finally move on and let go of his past.

A lot of their distaste really hasn't jived with the new ones. While the old games are great themselves I think it would be a massive waste of assets to remaster or remake the past games. The plot: "Ghost of Sparta" is a good for stories but revisting. And or overhauling mechanics just sounds wrong and like it would just be perverting the past works of art. New fans I've found really only go back to the old games for the lore. Not with the intrest to have to replay an old story. Most new fans want to see where Loki/Atreus is going to end up. The Ghost of Sparta has had plenty long enough of a story. There is little need to write the same story twice.

Notice in the last panel how the art style differs compared to the others: splattered ink and chalk vs metal engravings. The metal engravings that were painted over in the last panel appear to be how we saw Kratos dying in Atreus' arms while Thor looked over them. The art style matches the paintings from the first scene of Angrboda (lots of yellows and splats) and she is the only possible giant that could've painted this. This can also represent how Kratos was able to change his fate of what the Norns foresaw. imo

It just tugs on my heartstrings even more remembering those conversations while obeserving this moment. Odin: "And what kind of god is that, Kratos? What do you even know of godhood? In your lifetimes, has anyone ever worshipped you? Ever prayed to you? Can you even imagine that kind of love? No..." "You don't care about mortals. You don't care about anything beyond yourself. Beyond the monster who kills without cause." Athena: "There's nowhere you can hide spartan, Put as much difference between you and the truth as you want, It changes nothing. Pretend to be everything you are not, teacher, husband, father..." "But there is one unavoidable truth you will never escape, you cannot change. But here at 7:35 , they are used to evoke feelings of the future, somber and peaceful. They choir is not wrathful or mournful as it was before - but now in a different key it is somber, hopeful. Those moments feel earned and the excelent writing really builds up to those moments so when they hit, they hit harder than Kratos's fists into enemies heads. This game is an instant classic right alongside its predecessor.

In the end faye saw everything. Setting the wheels of fate in motion for kratos to get what he wanted, what he was promised but not kept. He lost his wife and daughter, his brother, then mother....she saw his pain and rage. She took him in after the fall of greece cause she grew to love him, giving him the thing the gods of Olympus kept promising. A second chance to love and be free of his torment, faye took that to her resting place. To see this happen to kratos is something we were all waiting for. He finally gets peace and has a chance to fix the world and protect those who cant. It is genuine emotion of joy and happiness that he can now live his life finally free, proud of his son and proud of the man atreus or loki has become. There shouldn't be another game at this point now, kratos story is over. But loki's story? Its just beginning and can be its own beast if they really want to continue. "All is said, all is done".

This whole scene was impossible to handle emotionally. The phainomenal and fitting soundtrack, Kratos's words and his hug with Atreus for a goodbye and Kratos crying after seeing the shrine, especially after having seen what he's been through in his entire life, made me cry through ths whole scene like a baby. Sony Santa Monica, kudos to you and thank you for giving us such a masterpiece. I didn't even play the game (because I'm still on the ps3 but I have been an og gow fan since forever) and still it is now my favourite video game of all time.

i am so glad Kratos finally gets a rest. He's done nothing but fight, kill, fight again, kill again and... well... all of the above again for all of his life. Trained to be a machine of war, becoming a god of war and a living weapon for the gods, losing everything and breaking free from his chains just to get caught up in EVEN MORE fighting and killing. To see him finally on the path to getting a pause or even end to it makes me happy. Also: I can't help but think of odins' words on kratos' goodhood. The thing about nobody worshipping him and giving him that special kind of love. He will finally get to feel that

Kratos, From Spartan to a God, from a God to a Destroyer, has finally found a new path that will at last rid him of the hardships he went through, From the death of his Wife and daughter to the death of his mother and Brother, from the many roads of bloodshed to the mountains of corpses both man, monster and even god, His life of Rage, Anger, sadness, Heartache, Vengeance and Suffering will now be put to an end. Kratos still holds his title as a god of war, but with his new path he will be a God that he never expected to become, the God of Peace, a Role that Unites All instead of Destroying all. He Deserved to have this path as a Reward for what him and his son had accomplished.

if i had to choose a new name for kratos or domain after war; the god of fathers. Literally his initial rise to power was in vengeance and morning for his lost children and wife. Covered in the ashes of his loved ones. Standing against his father and family in their name. Protecting a new family and learning to not only accept the growth of them but learning to go through the pain of letting his child go and mature. One of the scariest pains that parents and fathers go through. He is not the All Father. He is simply a prime example of a father. A God Father.

My guess is, after Ragnarok, when kratos has his own kingdom, other gods from different pantheons will get word that the asier are gone, and try to take the land for their own. Most likely not as all pantheons will surely know who kratos is after this, and they'll stay far away, but it's a fun idea.

Or Atreus takes the mantle. Story-wise that would be the best option. Kratos reverting back to his own ways and going on a pantheon(s) killing frenzy would literally give no meaning to the Norse saga. It might be hard for us fans, but Kratos deserves his retirement as the god of war, and his pursuit of his new purpose as the god of peace. The song at the end is called “Let Go” for a reason.
