VERY well done! Wish i had snap ring pliers! LOL. I found removing that to be the hardest part. It fought me for 20 minutes! The 2nd hardest part was removing the bottom shroud cover. Didn't realize the tile lever handle came off like that! Nicely done! I think this video will really help those on the GM-Trucks forum be more comfortable with this upgrade. Just a side note: There are some trucks out there with the 2-pin mate connector down below to plug into, but GM didn't continue that run into the fuse panel. So while present in some, it may not be hot. Great details on this!

Phil Gamboa I forgot to mention about the snap ring thing. My wife and I changed out her F550 front wheel bearing on I25 in Casper Wyoming when it was like 10 degrees out. I think it took at least 45 minutes with a Leatherman and a flathead screwdriver to remove the damn snap ring! I had like 10 different ones at home in our nice warm garage....250 miles away.

Clear and to the point, thanks! I've found that the steering wheel w/ the crash alert button is cheaper for some reason so that's what I purchased. I believe there are four different clock springs, with and without heated wheel and those for 1/2 ton vs HD. The difference between 1500s and HDs is the number of plugs on the airbag. I think the clock spring is populated for all wiring other than the heated wheel.

Yes, should be plug and play, however some trucks didn’t get the wiring coming from the fuse block to the harness. Phil Gamboa makes a solution for this. Here is a link to Gmpartsdirect.com (Flow Chevrolet) for the clock spring..... www.gmpartsdirect.com/?year=&make=&model=&search_str=Clock+spring&p=catalog&mode=search&scat=&search_in=all And here is for the wheel.... www.gmpartsdirect.com/?year=&make=&model=&search_str=Steering+wheel&p=catalog&mode=search&scat=&search_in=all The heated wheel needs another circuit which passes through the clock spring in the column. A wheel without heat uses a clock spring with one less circuit.

They’re not fun, at least they’re visible. Some GMs have a little extra rubber there and it’s all by feel. The wheel was something like $250 and the wheel powers off with the ignition. If you don’t have the wiring, Phil Gamboa At harnessdr.com makes an OEM retrofit harness that plugs into the factory location on the left side of the dash.

That does happen. GM switched plug designs at some point. I know Phil Gamboa at Harness Dr. makes a kit. harnessdr.com I was on the road when I first responded. You can just bypass the plug altogether and hardwire it if you’re halfway through install and need to get it done. You may even be able to disassemble one of the plugs and still use the OEM pins.

It's a little pricey, but it would be cool if I could pull off the swap. I just wanted to stop by to give you credit for an awesome how-to video.
