In my opinion, after Euro 2004 England should’ve bulit the side around him. He was the only player capable of slowing down the game and controlling the tempo.

Paul Scholes seemed to love playing for England under Glenn Hoddle & Keving Keegan and did really well...............and then Sven Goran Ericksson took over, and it was never the same for Paul, although Sven did ok with England and was unlucky with injuries to key players.

Every good player, has that one moment playing in front of enormous amount of people, that they can do stuff and it comes off, and they understand that they can do it at this level All good players must have that single moment when they know they fit in with these players.

Fascinating stuff. For me, Glenn was England’s best midfield player of the 80s, while Paul Scholes was the best England midfielder of the late 90s to mid 00s.

No they wouldn't. Sadly, we may produce great players such as Hoddle, LeTissier, Scholes, Marsh, Bowles, Hudson etc, but we never use them correctly.

The England squad was divided into separate cliquey club camps and they didn't like each other.

Hoddle was a good England manager contrary to some views on here, the press were in for him with that statement he made ( which was meat on the bone for the newspapers ). Not saying England would’ve won a tournament but Hoddle would’ve got them to the Semis and then it’s in the hands of the Gods at that stage. Hoddle was liked, it’s bollocks about Hoddle throwing Beckham under the bus ( which has since been cleared up ), Beckham did that himself.

100% agree with all of that. All the Beckham doc showed was that, DB and his family was always looking for someone to blame, that wasn't him. Press asked a question about whether Glenn thought we'd have a better chance of winning, had we not gone down to 10 and he said of course. They asked what next for DB, and he said, he's got to learn from his mistake as he can't do stuff like that in the future.

When has anyone taken Hoddle's opinion seriously....why was he sacked a England manager again?

For non footballing reasons he was sacked, admittedly his man management was his strong suit but tactically and his understanding of the game was fantastic for the 90s and early 00s
