This episode deals with Glenn Hammond Curtiss who was born in Hammondsport, NY at the south end of Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes. Curtiss became famous as a pioneer in motorcycling and as an architect of American aviation. We can justly claim him as one of the most important persons to have been born here in the Finger Lakes.

Interesting presentation, Thank you!. Glenn Curtiss really had Speed in his veins. Regarding the "first female pilot" it`s worth mentioning "Duchess" Raymonde de Laroche. She got her pilot licence from Aeroclub de France at 8th March 1910, a couple of months before Blanche Scott. Raymonde was killed in an air crash 1919 (as passenger). It took a lot of stamina to fly in those days and they always had an extra passenger - the Death.
It seems that Glenn Curtis was the Wright brothers' greatest rival and for many Americans, the first North American to truly fly!!!
