I just visited the Curtiss museum in Hammondsport. Absolutely awesome.
The main reason the Wright Flyer survived is because they were fighting lawsuits over ownership of the flight patent into the 1940s.

Os Wright não foram os primeiros e ainda atrasaram o desenvolvimento da aviação nós Estados Unidos! Santos Dumont fez o primeiro vôo do mais pesado que o ar. Depois voaram Bleriot, Farman, Delagrange e Gleen Curtis e só em 1908 os Wright voaram pela primeira vez!
