I would say calling that an interview is a bit of a stretch. At 15, I was blown away by his incredible talent, not to mention that he was stunningly beautiful.

Gino proved that Michelangelo was absolutely right about there being great beauty in males. When that man moved around the stage you couldn't take your eyes off him and his music got into your blood. He became a fantastic addiction that just doesn't stop. You don't want it to stop.

A god. And how he dressed, and showed off that chest hair ---- But, ya know what? I just saw Gino for the first time, last week in Annapolis, MD. We drove 2 hours from Philly. He is still a sight to behold and sounds fantastic! The band is the best!!

Certo che fare un'intervista del genere a un Gigante della Musica come Gino Vannelli è una vergogna assoluta! Non gli è stato chiesto niente del suo meraviglioso percorso artistico, nada de nada. No Comment!!!

The interviewer is a bastardo e disgraziato. Let's not mince words. The typical stereotypes of southerners getting ahead only because of Mafia connections. So disrespectful to Gino's talent and sweat. He's probably rotting in a one donkey village in anonymity.

@@Vincenzo-wn1or - Yes, the interviewer is gone (he died a few years ago) and it's not nice to talk badly, but in this interview he exaggerated and it seems that history repeats itself: I don't know if you are Italian or not (you have written some Italian words) but the poor great singer Mia Martini in an interview on a Italian televison network with her a few years ago before she died (if I remember correctly) she said that he was one of those people who as soon as she entered in a television studio (or other places - for example a recording studio) he warned everyone to be careful because she brought bad luck (she claimed that he didn't notice that she had heard that statement because she was accidentally where she wasn't seen). This statement made by many people was her undoing.

Yes! Saw him in concert in 1977 from a front row center seat. He looked like a freaking GOD on stage! I’ve never seen a more beautiful human in my life! Women were completely awestruck and the men hated him!

As Vince de Simone wrote to you, the interviewer didn’t behave very well …anyway ... If you try to translate with the KZread translator it will not be good because Gino's translator doesn’t speak Italian so well but during the video he says (laughing) that he is from Campobasso like Vannelli but he seems (and for me he is) an Italian-American who barely speak a bit of Italian. In fact, almost halfway through the video he said it's the second time he's come to Italy! I try to translate to you the salient points ... Vannelli and his translator are asked where they come from - the translator replies they are from Campobasso - it’s in Molise (a region of south of Italy) - and then if they are football fans. So, the translator translates this to Gino but he didn't answered and only smiled (as you see in the video). But all in one shot the interviewer asked (about at 02:00): “Is it true that Gino Vannelli is Mafia? They say he is protected by the Mafia... ". The translator immediately replied in Italian, mixing words in English: "No! Instead he is a great singer! (he expressed himself in an incorrect Italian and said “cantatore” instead of “cantante” - a singer in Italian) and then he continued: “there is above all the "sound "of Gino that it's “completed and different” (these two words are in English - you can hear them). At 02:34 - the translator mentioned the release of the "new" album "Gist of Gemini" made in London with the famous sound engineer Geoff Emerick who also worked with the Beatles. Then he is asked how many times they have come to Italy: Gino replies that it is the first time. The translator: twice. The interviewer asked what impression he (Gino) has of Italy - the translator (for Gino) replied: "It is the most beautiful country in the world! and then there are the women! (which he called "females") and here everyone laughs a bit ...so, the interviewer asked to hear the new record of Gino but as you will see he didn’t do it right away. In fact, all of a sudden (at about 03:41), the interviewer exclaimed to the translator for Gino: "He (Gino) doesn’t speak Italian, doesn’t he?” And here Gino displaced him because he replied (with a big smile) in a" weak" Italian but clear: " me ... io capisco! "(literally translated: " me ... I understand it! ") and then the interviewer replies: " ... but I don't understand him too much! ..." About at 4 minutes in the video the interviewer continued: ".. you travel a lot, you do tours ..." And the translator replies: "yes we did 85 concerts with 20000-32000 people .. even, one in New Orleans, was with 92,000 people!" And the interviewer exclaimed: "92,000 thousand people?!? .. mamma mia!". And here another unhappy joke - He said: "... all this people sent by the Mafia?!..no ??!" (that "no?" was like "isn't that right?" ). The translator replies: "No! ... Gino is the ambassador of music!" And the interviewer: "I know he makes a 'great' music (raising his hands in the air to indicate “something large or big"). Then Gino mentioned something in a low voice about his musical set (which I did not understand clearly) but the translator states that Gino uses as his "set": 17 synthesizers and 11 pianos and 60 tons of instrumentation. The interviewer continues: "look at us who 'poor people' (joking - showing his tv-studio) and then he also mentioned to listen to the song “love of my life” but the interviewer concluded by saying:“ thank you for your visit and please,...I recommend to you …these Italians abroad get respected! ”. It's a miracle that Gino remained calm, pretending nothing happened because associating him with the Mafia was literally absurd. I also understand that it was in the seventies, but to Gino he could have spared these jokes.
