Thanks so much for this! I just downloaded gimp specifically for this plugin, and I was having trouble figuring out how to make it work. (I was copying the files to their own separate folder like the rest of the plugins)

I've been trying to follow your tutorial. I had downloaded an appimage of Gimp with all the plugins included supposedly. I have a form of resynthezier under "Enhance" but it doesn't show up like in yours. Yours is listed as Healing... mine is just resynthesize. And when I make a selection around a person, it doesn't take the selection out. Can you help?

Some important sidenotes: 1) The install path might be the one you pointed, but that depends on Gimp's configuration... in order to be shure: - In Gimp you go to the menu Edit > Preferences > Folders > Plugins... and then you check the correct folder... The common folder might be C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins in that case-scenario the py files should be copied into that location 2) I have encountered problems with the x64 version of the software, i just install the x32, since it will work on any PC and has proven to me to give way less troubles Final edit: you can install Resynthesizer with Gimp open, but it will not work up until you restart the software, since plugins are loaded at program startup

I'm running GIMP 2.10.30 on Win10 Pro. I've installed the files as described but it doesn't work. I can outline the subject, hit enter, go to Filters, Enhance, Heal Selection. But I get the "Calling error for procedure 'plug-in-resynthesizer': The texture source is empty. Does any selection include non-transparent pixels?" error. I've installed the files in both location as suggested below and I get the same error. Any suggestions as to what could be the issue?

That's a very old tutorial and the software is not supported very well

I did exactly as you said when installing the plugins the actual tools aren't working. I make a selection > filter > enhance > Heal selection > set my parameters and after I press OK I get the error "Calling error for procedure 'gimp-procedural-db-proc-info': Procedure 'plug-in-resynthesizer' not found". It can't seem to find the plugins in the folder they were saved in. In GIMP I have gone through Edit> Folders> Plugins and it is reading "C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins" so it should be looking in the right folder. Any help would be appreciated. Solved: I figured it out and I feel really stupid I had to remove resynthesizer and resynthesizer-gui from the folder they came packed in called win-64. I guess the program just couldn't find the files in the plugin folder when they were in an isolated folder.

Made that tutorial a while a go, I will have to retest

For those on Linux if you have already copied the resynth files into your plugins dir and assuming you’ve updated the plugins registers Then simply go back into your terminal and Sudo apt-get install gimp-python And open up gimp if all has gone well The heal selection tools will now be available

I had this working on my previous versions of Gimp 2. But I got a new computer, and not matter how many times (or which paths I follow) I cannot get this to work on 10.24. So I have lost this wonderful capability. If you know how I can fix it, I'd be much appreciative. I used to have a separate tab for Script fu plugins as well. That is gone, even though I'd backed up my program files.

I do not see any other files or folders of gimp that I can copy the plug in's into, I've searched everywhere, and all that apepars is the actual GIMP program. So, when I go to enhance, heal selection is not there....this is mega frustrating . I have windows 7 and have followed your steps to a tee. Uninstalled, reinstalled, both, done all the basics. The issue is that my folder under Program files, has no other folders or anything other than the GIMP program, none of the 'lib' folders or anything else to drage the other plug in's into like you have.

I had the same issue. When you are installing, it will ask if you are installing for just you or the all users. When I hit just me, I couldn't find the files anywhere only some GIMP files inside the user (owner) folder. I uninstalled it, installed again and then clicked everyone and it put it in program files with the rest of my programs. I hope this helps, if not; I have no idea.

I had the same problem. I believe I solved it by installing "gimp-python". Check to see if it is installed. Heal selection won't work without it. Copy resynthesizer, resynthesizer_gui, plugin-heal-selecton, pyconsole.py and python-console.py to the .config/GIMP/2.10/plugins/ folder in your home directory. Try rebooting and look for heal selection in the filters>enhanced menu. Hope this helps.

Honestly that plugin is so old and it's no longer supported. So I guess it's only Photoshop or use the magic one tool or pen in Gimp

Filtro > Realzar > Heal Selection

I don't think you are hitting the keyboard buttons hard enough
