Giant GREEN ALIEN Shell!! Sashimi + EXOTIC SEAFOOD in Okinawa, Japan!

NAHA, OKINAWA - We’re on the island of Okinawa in southern Japan, and Okinawa is famous for its incredible seafood. Due to being further south, the seafood selection is totally different from what you’d find in northern parts of Japan, here it’s much more tropical.
Today we’re heading straight to the Makishi Public Market (goo.gl/maps/pEMxXv49G8NuM7899), an absolute seafood wonderland where you will see a full aquarium of different seafood available and an amazing colorful selection. After walking around for a few minutes we then decided on a very friendly couple who had a fantastic fresh catch. We bought a giant slipper lobster (biggest I’ve ever seen), a huge green turban shell, and a red grouper.
Total price - 31,680 JPY for everything
Upstairs you can eat all your fresh seafood at a restaurant where they will prepare it for you.
Price - 2,650 JPY for cooking and side dishes
When you’re in Okinawa, visiting the Makishi Public Market for a seafood meal is a must!

Did you know that the dialect spoken in Okinawa is totally different from the language of the other regions of Japan? Sea food is adorable and Japanish people really know about it, that beautifull colours, tastes, flavours, textures and sauces are enough to make my day. Thank you Mark!

Yes, I knew the knowledge that your first sentence imparted. People are quite naive about Japan and the Japanese language.

Okinawa is not part of Japan legally

@@mmosm Maybe you should clarify that comment but I will lend you some assistance. The Ryukyu Kingdom (TRK), now known as Okinawa, was unofficially annexed by Japan in 1429 even though TRK had already established an economic relationship with the Ming Dynasty of China, became a vassal of the Satsuma and Tokugawa Shogunate in 1609 after the Invasion of Ryukyu and then was formally annexed by Japan in 1879. The Ryukyu Kingdom had trade/economic relations with both Japan and China from the late 1300's until it was formally annexed. Chinese influence can be see throughout the island but Okinawa is neither Japanese nor Chinese. Nan kurunai sa!
What a great recommendation from the market to have 'half & half' You get to experience the seafood in it's natural & cooked state. Especially if it's your first time and the quality is good. So simple yet more often looked over.
That lobster was so fresh that at 8.12 it blinked.
When Mark holds up the boat the lobster moves its leg! 😮

This one is absolutely my favorite video, and oh my god, the seafood options are beyond incredible! I can't even begin to describe how jealous I am of the amazing seafood you have access to. The freshness, variety, and artistry in these dishes are absolutely mind-blowing. I can only dream of being able to taste such exquisite flavors. So glad you went to Okinawa Mark! I went when I was a university student in Japan and it blew my mind how it was like Japan but also not Japan. Always wanted to go back again one day. Okinawa had so many regional specialities.
Thank you, Yuji-San for showing Mark around 👍🙏
When your in Japan no need to finish the video bcos I know that this episode will be good but of course I finished the whole episode...japan is for the best by the way I'm from Philippines..☺️🤭

Welcome to Naha, Mr.Mark! There is a sea snake in this market!
I love seeing the food making process. From selection (by the way great variety), going directly from the tank, to the person that prepares it, plates it, and then the food comes to the table. You can't beat that! What a wonderful video.

As usual, Mark...you start my day with a GORGEOUS representation of seafood....unlike ANYTHING I have seen...especially the Lobster! It is so unparalleled. I have had the privilege of enjoying Seafood in many Restaurants and Countries...bit NOW I am beginning to see because of your expertise in Japan ( especially ) that the seafood available there.....in many small...and sometimes larger....cities, what is available... and is NOT so available elsewhere.
