Tobias has clearly studied music structure for most of his life. He KNOWS what makes a good song. He's a die hard fan of dusty old classic rock and metal vinyl. He wanted ghost to feel like a lost gem of a band you never heard of. People can hate all they want but they are consistently solid.

@@brandonclark8736 At least you don’t have that “I’m right and you’re stupid” mentality about it. You gave your opinion and that’s all you presented it to be. Personally, this album had to grow on me a bit. There were a couple of songs I instantly loved, but most of them took a few listens to click with me.

More GHOST! As the years go by the GHOST production keeps sounding better, Impera was recorded at the same time phantomime was recorded. Ghost: We Don't Need Another Hero was released 8 days before we lost Tina Turner and we pray she was blessed to hear the recording of her song being performed with Tobias Forge on Base Guitar.

Great reaction. As you mention, Tobias is brilliant in how he puts these songs together. Familiar, but still fresh. Brilliant execution. With each album, Ghost have raised the production bar. This being their latest (2022) full album, it has the fullest production. Ghost has played this song on the latest tour - the "We Will Rock You" section hits hard.

I have to say, listening to you talk about Ghost and their lore, seeing your joy recalling the videttes has put a massive smile on my face! They are soooo dope, the band, the lore, the everything about this is taking music into a 4D space. It has been done before, but there is just something about the way they are doing it that makes me think they are 100% future Rock n Roll Hall of Famers. They are the AC/DC, Metallica, etc of this generation. The next track you would enjoy, Cirice (sir-eece). It’s a must listen. The Grammy winning Metal Performance hits so damn hard. It is a literal masterpiece, their Magnum Opus. Songwriting, lyrics, composition… it’s all just magnifique.

Additionally, one of the beautiful things about Ghost, Tobias wanted Ghost to sound like a band from the 70-80s that you somehow missed. You can feel the influences from Pantera, Metallica, Def Leopard, Queen, etc. I was honestly surprised when I found out Ghost was a recent band. Tobias got me. His idea worked on me. I incorrectly told my girlfriend (when she discovered them) that they are probably a band from that era. When she came back with the proof, I was shocked. I honestly thought Ghost was an 80s band that I somehow looked over.

Cardinal Copia was on the 4th album Prequelle where the "Chapters" started. Cardinal Copia earned his skull paint and is Papa IV for the 5th album, Impera. Impera is about the rise and fall of empires where #4 was about the Plague Square Hammer now closes the Rituals. You should listen to Watcher in the Sky from Impera. They play this live. Kaisarion usually opens the show. 27:47 27:47

I haven't paid much attention to them anymore lately but I like how they're devoted to the lore and keep altering their sounds and style from album to album. For me their first album is most consistent. Ghost albums after the first one have great production but dunno if it's the mastering what makes them draining for me to listen to

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's "making fun" of Satanism, do people who make horror movies make fun of the occult? But it's not to be taken too seriously and it's tongue-in-cheek scooby-doo Satanism. Tobias has always been the dark architect behind Ghost, he writes _most_ of the songs, but it did used to be an organic normal band too. The relationships with the Ghouls during this period often stretched back through previous projects and collaborations. That's a rabbit hole in itself to explore. But this all changed early 2017 and now all the band members other than him are hired musicians. So it's more of a project than a band these days. One of the guitarists that had been around since early 2017 as one of these hired musicians (and yea we always find out who they are, anonymous only goes so far) was recently axed against his will. Ironically the band's popularity took off in 2017 so all that work and financial sacrifice the members had put in was for nothing.. and you'll often find newer fans of the band who don't give a toss about the original band members. Personally I feel like the magic disappeared from the band with that transition, but Ghost still makes some good songs. This one I feel like the soppy breakdown near the end lasts too many cycles and the vocal chorus sounds too much like an artificial studio effect to me (earlier Ghost music had it sounding more organic when used IMO).. but it's a strong song in general.

We dontk ow what really happened except what was tweeted out. The former members sued Tobias and lost. He's been mainly the architect from the beginning. Only Persner helped write some stuff and he wasn't part of the lawsuit, but, did leave. Those former members unmasked him, so to speak. They've always been hired musicians. He wrote Prequelle while all this stuff was going on, didn't he? And Impera just proves the point. Session musicians for recording when he's not doing it himself a d touring musicians when they're on the road. Tobias is Ghost

@@marybrant9586 from what was tweeted out (to clarify regarding the recent guitarist swap) we know it wasn't his choice to leave You have an overly simplistic view of the court case. The members "lost" but the next stage in the legal process was an appeal case that would have been deliberated in a higher up court. There are also questions about the judge for the court that was used as both he and Tobias are members of the same mason lodge. The case was settled out of court (pay off from Tobias) before it got to the appeal court however Martin was a witness in the court case, but no he was not a plaintiff - he was obviously burned out from touring and was swapped already for Megan Thomas in late 2016, so would have had no grounds to be in the case for the reasons the members initiated it. I think if things progressed organically there could have been room for him to come back into the band after a break. This would have been one of the positive aspects of the anonymous schtick.. being able to rest a member and bring in a temporary member to give them time off. Everyone knew who the members were anyway, but I presume you are referring to that "Omega’s true identity" video he uploaded around that time. They were NOT always hired musicians. Megan Thomas was the first band member to join on a hired musician contract. The other members were band members in a normal band context. Obviously the need to form a band came when Opus took off and it needed to be taken on the road.. and as I already stated "Tobias has always been the dark architect behind Ghost" so you liking Prequelle/Impera doesn't prove anything - however they were no less band members, just because the band had a leader/primary song writer. Impera is Ghost's worst album to date for me. I like about 3.5 songs on the album, and it's the first album I can't bring myself to buy a physical copy of as "Twenties" is too annoying to listen to. I'd have to splice a tape, or scratch my own groove past it on the vinyl. I used to love every single song on a Ghost album/EP
