Getting Stuck in Half Guard in BJJ? Try This Armlock Passing Strategy

Спорт

If you struggle passing Half Guard then today's video is for you. In today's BJJ technique video I'm going to give you a simple strategy to chew on. It's simple, but effective. I've been using this strategy ever since I was a BJJ White Belt and have used it effectively even as a Black Belt.
The key to making this work (as I'll show you in the video) is to set up multiple threats starting with the armlock. This could be a keylock, kimura, straight armlock, whatever you're best with.
What happens is the person will be forced to focus on the submission threat which then diverts attention away from retaining the Half Guard position.
If you don't already do this, you should. It's been one of my most effective ways to pass guard and it's something you'll see a lot of people doing in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
Hope the video helps.

42, disabled vet training under Marcio Andre in Chandler, AZ and I just got my first stripe on my white belt. I LOVE this stuff, but for me its my damn arm. One of these days I will get it under control, but I am getting better about slowing myself and my opponent down. Trying to do too much too fast has killed me with these kids.

I love passing half guard. If I have an opponent with a good open guard, I’ll force the half guard cause I’d rather pass that. That hip switch Chewie showed is powerful, and has lots of options to get pressure on them. I like to get my free leg wedged on their thigh and grab their own knee and start wiggling mine out. If my opponent panics and tries to bridge I free my leg, make a big back step, and flatten their hips back out with my knee grip. If they get their arm inside mine and start trying to frame off my face, I go kimura hunting like how Chewie demo’d

Coach displeased with me crushing blue belts under shoulder with size i have 40 pds on them as a white belt. But I get submitted if I don't use more strength/weight. He told me to weigh the same when I roll with them... How? Im 6'4 222pds 26yr old, 6 month white belt.
