Fundamental Adjustment Every Guard Passer in BJJ Should Know

Спорт

In today's BJJ video I'm going to show you a fundamental concept that EVERY guard passer should know and understand. Not some of them, all of them. This basic adjustment was huge when it came to finishing a guard pass and holding side control when I started to focus in on it.
Now it's simple! Super simple. But understanding the idea of blocking the hip will make your Brazilian Jiu-jitsu much better in regards to holding side control and passing the guard.
Back in the day I didn't understand this idea and I would often pass the guard and then the person on bottom of guard would immediately regain guard position.
Now you don't need to drill this thing for hours and hours on end. Simply be mindful of it the next time you begin rolling.

Some say that Adam has no eyelids...some say that Adam’s jazz hands are actually humming bird wings. All we know, is that he’s “The Stig” of BJJ!

You are by far one of the most helpful and best when it comes for tips in Bjj and grappling in general. Thank you so much for sharing man. I’m a “white belt” so a lot of ur techniques help a lot🙃

The smallest things matter. Im 235lds and can secure side control more times than not. I sometimes have issues with smaller guys and higher belts. They are great at exploiting space and regaining guard. Good info.

Thanks for the video brother, just started BJJ 2 weeks ago, passing the guard and keeping the opponent in my guard is something I want a really strong base in before going crazy trying to learn submissions and how to defend all of them.

I definitely learned this the HARD way...love that leg grab - never tried that unorthodox position - very clever - I like to use the knee or more often arm to block and spin to N/S. Always learn something here - Osssss!!!

OMG another light bulb moment from watching you! I pass to side control pretty often and I have been wondering why they can just bring their knees up and get their guard back! Gonna try to remember this today thanks!

Agreed, one thing that has helped coming from wrestling and Judo though was learning to use crushing pressure in side control, (try not to use it often obviously against other white belt training partners because I'm not a douche nozzle lol) but appreciate these tips!

@chewjitsu would you have any tips on take downs for a 135lb guy whose left shoulder pops out when jerked away from me 😅 it usually limits me to hip toss on my right side or trips but usually resort to pulling guard or letting them get a takedown with me landing in a favorable position. I want to play more top game and takedowns are my weakest point because of my shoulder.
