How To Stop Losing Mount Position in BJJ (2 Fundamental Adjustments)

Спорт

Ever have trouble holding the mount position in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu? It used to be a big problem for me and I know a lot of people who struggle with it. So in this video I touch on a couple of simple ideas to chew on in order to make your mount position stronger.
In the video I show a modified position that allows me to attack armlocks but it's also good for holding the mount position itself. The reason is that by going to the position that I show in the video I disable 2 of the necessary things a person needs to escape efficiently. Frames and hip power. Without these, escaping mount is going to be difficult.
This will allow you to hold the position longer and increase your chances of getting a submission.
So I hope this video helps Brett and hopefully it helps you too!

    Tried it in the gym today.. as a 2 month white belt... I should have watched the how to get to mount video first... this technique does not work when you are the one on the bottom.. however, works great in all the drilling.

    I used this last night on an upper belt - I’m only a month in- and it worked so good 😊 He was stumped and asked where I learned this - “KZread!” 😂 My school doesn’t have a fundamentals class 🤷‍♀️ so between your video/podcast and books - I’ve been doing homework 📚 Seriously- as a white belt trying not to get smashed this video was a game changer 😂

    In judo you can get the win just by staying in mount, so it is pretty important to know how to preserve the position. I have come to learn that reacting to what the oponent is doing and readjusting the legs is also pretty useful. However, I allways look for the side control or even top down position, it's way easier than keeping mount.

    i’ve been trying to figure this out for a tournament coming up. When your on top and have the other person in mount and nothing is working out for you, does it give the other person points to roll back to guard?

  • @etnwhvac
    @etnwhvac Жыл бұрын

    I hope you can answer this one for me! I'm new to BJJ and I have situations in which we rolling and too close to another rollers then what happened is that usually higher belt drags me from guard to an better open area not much just enough to get out of the way. The other day I roll with a partner and I recognize we were too close and kind of drag the guy away!! I didn't thought much about it but is my feeling he didn't liked to be dragged because he told me to let him know stop the roll and relocate!! Is it disrespectful to drag some one to a new area?? Its something that only high belt are allowed to do to lower belt??? Is it my partner now liking being dragged??? Regardless I will not be dragging any one any more!! It felt awkward being told when I had being done to me and having no issue with it!!! Mainly asking if there is an unspoken rule about it that I'm braking!! Thanks for your Input!!

    Coach and everybody reading this: I've got a question. I'm grappling in a no Gi gym without promotions and after a few months only I was doing pretty good against the guys who trained a lot longer than me. Sometimes I even submitted them. (Short note: I was doing traditionell Jiu-Jitsu since I was about 8 years old, maybe that helped to addept quicker than most guys who just started?!) Anyway, I would like to know were I stay. Is that even right? I mean, everybody in the BJJ community is talking about the Ego and let outside the gym, on the other Hand I remember Chewie saying that a belt still means something. So... what can I do? What should I do? There is only one other decent BJJ gym in my area with promotions, but I can't effort two memberships At the time. Thank you all and have a nice day ✌😎🇩🇪

  • @derrickrobinson7269

    @derrickrobinson7269

    Its preference. Im at a school that does promotions, but only in the Gi. Im a NoGi only person, so there are no promotions. The difference is: I'm okay with that, I can see my progress. You have to remember that the belt doesnt give you skills, its only to visually warn others of your skill. If you care about that, then leave your current gym. If not, then stay and improve. No belt is like hiding power levels
