Toe Tuck BJJ Half Guard Sweep (Gi or No Gi)

Спорт

The Toe Tuck Sweep / Position is one of the 1st Half Guard sweeps I started using successfully from this low Half Guard position I've shown in this series.
I say Half Guard Sweep / Position because I have numerous attacks from the Toe Tuck. So even if these sweep options stop. I have lots of other techniques I can use for my Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
In this video I also share why I use this style of Half Guard for Brazilian Jiujitsu.
One reason is that I'm able to fight against the Knee Cut Pass which is a fantastic option when faced against a Half Guard position.
Another tip is that when I come up for these sweeps. I make sure to come up on my elbows in a particular way that makes this sweep effective for my Brazilian Jiujitsu game.
So if you're trying to develop a better BJJ Half Guard game. I hope this latest BJJ sweep addition of one of my favorites is helpful to you!
Thanks!

"I'm not a gi or a no-gi guy. I'm a JiuJitsu guy." That's so awesome, man. I love that philosophy. I wish my academy did more no-gi.

You're my boy, Chewy! Thanks for going over all this half guard stuff, my overall game was never so well rounded until I saw your first couple of videos about your half guard sweep. Love the focus on the in depth and subtleties of everything. Keep it up!

Nice video. I've been doing this move for months, still watched for tips and. .. got it. I could not figure by myself this last trick to get the elbow on the floor, that's probably why sometimes I grab the foot but can't flip. Thank you

Damn, Chewy, I've been struggling a bit with half guard sweeps lately as a white belt, and with my first tournament coming up I was getting a little nervous. I'm excited to try this one out! Thanks man!

Just worked that technique last night in the new gym, they were putting the hand on the back though. Guess putting it on the hip is more effective. Thank you!!

This is my favorite sweep. First learned it back in the day back when Stephan Kesting would send the first DVD of his basics series out for free. I signed up for it and it was this sweep. I didn't order the rest of the DVDs (Sorry Stephan!) but immediately pulled this sweep into my game. Great sweep for gi or nogi. Can even be a sneaky way to finish a single if you get sprawled on and stuck underneath!

I'm here because you said it was one of your best sweeps in today's video. Ironically my best position is half guard but my best submission is the triangle. I am both the people in your video.

I think my instructor calls this a different name called old school sweep and it looks exactly like this. I use it all time and im short, works very well!

I use the second variation much more cause the grip makes it hard for him to get his foot out, whereas the first relies on him giving me more space and not crushing me. Do a technical stand up in both cases though, helps me drive through!! Eddie Bravo does something similar from the lockdown, this is pure deep half. This position happens a lot more than lockdown

I can always do a video of the back step counter. . . then the counter to the back step. . . then the counter to that counter. . . and so on. It's never ending.

thought the "old school" is the older way of clearing the neck for a gogo (switching hand placement > kung fu move> etc) where the new way is just flipping the leg over the head.

I am a white belt and thinking that I am going to make a game plan so that as I go to each position during rolling I only have one technique to think about and as I progress my skills I will change out techniques to increase options. I was just curious if there are any series on what are good techniques to start with or even just tell me some good recommendations to look up.

Hey Chewy, I get caught with a kimura while passing halfguard all the time. Recently I got caught (still in his halfguard) and rolled at 45 degree angle, still tangled in with the leg, which spun him around and was able to take the back. I'm going to play with it a bit, but is that even legit?

So 2 questions, 1. this guy I was sparring with when I got to mount would hide his arms under my knees when I went for an armbar or a shoestring armbar, when I grabbed for his arms he swept me what do I do? 2nd How do I deal with a guy who does circles over me to taunt me when we spar, I mean for a good 30 seconds he wouldn't submit me he would just go from mount to side control to north south to side control to mount because he's quicker than I am?

    1) if a guy is not protecting his neck with his arms, then you choke him, easy cross collar or ezekiel finish. 2) Hes very foolish, sweeps are alot easier mid-transition as your base aint adjusted yet, as hes transitioning , bump him and roll him to the side hes transitiong too.
