I've found myself gravitating towards half-guard when i'm rolling, both on top and bottom. These Danaher videos couldn't have come at a better time.
These instructionals are coming out like hot buns, I can't keep up. "Guys, John just shot an entire instructional on jiu-jitsu", sold!
Is there a way that you guys could enhance the audio experience? Body mics may not work when demonstrating moves I realize. The videos you guys make are so great for the content of course, thank you for providing the content. But with peace and love, please look in to upgrading the audio for the viewers.

Can anyone make the 'classic' half guard sweeps work? I've been shown them a million times but they never really work and I never see others doing them. The deep half sweeps work for me though.
Thank you I have jui jitsu world leagues in Cali coming up in 3weeks I have a messed up knee but I’ll be able to use this half guard to help me really have my best chance it’s an white belt only
my eyes are closing

@adrianarroyo937

@@freman75 Because he's John effing Danaher. I guess it just depends on who you like more as a communicator (though I think GR almost talks like Danaher when teaching), the section of rolling in GR DVDs, and the price. I think they have basically the same systems, so what they teach would be pretty similar. Maybe the organization in the DVDs is also different: Danaher explain the submissions in EtS, not in his GFF, and GR probably explains them in his guard and top pins DVDs. But I would get both if I had the money
With John and Gordon and the death squad being in New York for so long, trust me they used to being around Puerto Ricans. So it's only natural for them to say hey let's go to the island get on that Beach. And Nicky Rodriguez probably has something to do with talking them into it also. 🇵🇷
11:40 how is he trapping the elbow before the knee lever? Overhook? Under hook?

Overhook cuz guy got underhook on him
At 11:59 what exactly is that move? Knee Lever? Can someone break down what it is?
@Kkkd.111

He basically tightens his legs together and trap opponents arm and push them to the side to make them post so he can get underhook and go for sweeps or escapes

If half guard is the only position where the bottom guy can impose engagement why do so many mma coaches teach half guard for g+p.
@ddg-fi5bp
2 жыл бұрын
Same thing can be good for top half or bottom half depending on certain parameters
@callumthejudo696
2 жыл бұрын
@Andrew Onymous I agree with that but I feel for eg stepping into a half guard from side like so many do when looking to g+p is giving the guy on bottom an opportunity that he didn't have to begin with.
@shaunedwards5356
2 жыл бұрын
Cause you can lock onto their leg with your legs for control while throwing punches. Side control you need tohave more of a body lock or cross face to pin them so it’s harder to get leverage in punches
@jdriscoll5083
2 жыл бұрын
@@callumthejudo696 it’s a good point/question. My guess is that the top guy has studied his opponent enough to know whether he poses any real danger from half guard or not. Also by that point in the fight, you’ve felt him out enough to gauge his grappling skills. For example, if you’re against someone like Garry Tonon or Charles Oliveira and you have side control, moving to top half probably wouldn’t be the best option. But against more of a striker with very little BJJ training like a Justin Gaethje, the top half guard may be the more effective position so that you can lock up that bottom leg and limit his movement while landing shots. Idk why, but so many mma guys even at the UFC level have shit Jiu jitsu for the level they’re at. It would behoove them all to go out and buy every John Danaher instructional and drill the fuck out of the techniques.
@callumthejudo696
