GETTING RID OF ALL THE SLOP IN MY SUSPENSION // Upgraded Civic Bushings
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I feel rather accomplished with this latest upgrade, as not too many people can say they’ve done the same with, especially with replacing all* of the bushings on their 9th gen Civic, when companies don’t make replacements for them all. I did “miss” one of them in the rear as you’ll see in this video, but there may be a way around it!
It is very easy to throw some fancy coilovers and camber arms on your car, which will upgrade the feel for your car. However, the more time you spend driving a car with stiff suspension, the faster your rubber bushings will degrade, making this upgrade EVEN MORE of a must!!!
I tried to throw all of the links to the items used in this video below. Have a look at them, and let me know if I’m missing anything! If you are interested in any of the tools or products that I used to update & upgrade the garage and house, have a look at the #linkedproducts. By purchasing items below, it helps my channel operate and brings more awesome content your ways. Thank you all for your generous support!! 💙

Another great video
Nice to see someone who knows what they are talking and how things are done. Very punctual and descriptive on the work being done. Although some of the methods of it could've been done different but hey there's more than one way to skin a cat. The only argumentive point from me would be it is not necessary to preload the suspension when torqueing the bolts. In the case of using spherical and poly bushings that can easily rotate if properly installed you can torque without preloading the suspension. As long as the bushing are free to move.
@milanmastracci
Жыл бұрын
Hey Brad, as I mentioned, spherical and polyurethane bushings that can rotate don't need to be pre-torqued, however all OEM bushings should be to ensure they are not under tension while the vehicle is static.

If you look on eBay for the rear trailing arm bushings, the rubber bushing kit comes with the flange. I have been procrastinating doing the trailing arm bushings due to that one flange and the rust.

Fkx racing makes a bushing kit for the 9th gen I believe
Great video as always Milan. My focus with my own 9th gen has also been to address areas where aftermarket companies have not provided much in terms of upgrade modifications do our cars. These bushings are a superb example of that, sometimes you just have to get creative and do what others have not attempted to do before. Great in depth breakdown of everything here! We appreciate you uploading again and I hope to see more videos soon. Take care.

In a lot of areas, the aftermarket hasn't done justice for the 9th gens in terms of easy upgrades but it is a lot better platform than it gets credit for.

how often do you have to grease poly bushes?
@milanmastracci
Жыл бұрын
Depends on the conditions you drive in. If you put the grease in there and lube it properly, it should be years before you have to take them apart
I think Moog makes replacement control arms, but not sure if they're rubber bushings or not.
@milanmastracci
Жыл бұрын
Hey Eddie! They are indeed regular rubber, and i believe they're also a bit softer than factory.
@mikea5205

I bought the Moog control arms from Rock Auto, they're terrible. The rubber ripped within a month. Currently swapping them out again.
According to Honda, on the 2012 Civic Si, the trailing arms and front knuckles are specific to the 2012 Si.
@milanmastracci

The front knuckles are different for the 2014-15 Si models only. All of the other knuckles are the same. As far as the rear trailing arms, their designs seems to be identical. Do you know what is different about from, according to Honda?

Throw in a 4piston exhaust cam. Leave everything else. The intake is making all its power but the small exhaust cam brings it down to 205. Thats why you mpg drops so hard after 4500. Exhaust side is fixed and the cat is close by, so you shouldn't need a tune but you can. It doesn't add power, just frees up the power its already making. If you also want more torque, get Ignition Projects ignition coil and NGK ruthenium HX sparkplugs because it will wear away iridium plugs in months. Its legit and makes 5th gear a usable gear. The torque adds stress but heat is reduced. Lucas oil supercoolant is also legit. Keeps everything clean and corrosion free so all surfaces and sensors contact the water better. Eliminate heat soak and your vtc wont hesitate on hot days anymore. I miss my si but i dont miss the hill assist and the naggy controls.
They don’t make a 9th gen kit because the 8th gen is superior😂
Milan, so you spent all that money on all those parts, which didn't work, BUT yet, you still haven't gotten your garage floor epoxied, yet? SMH Bro, you need to get that done before you really start doing even more mechanical work in your garage, otherwise, 2 things are going to happen: 1) you're going to have so much stuff in your garage that it's going to be an overwhelming nightmare for you to even want to clear out your garage just to get your garage floor done. 2) as you continue on working on cars in your garage, you're going to spilling oil, gas, chemicals, etc... onto the floor, which then will stain your garage floor, which then will end up costing your even more money to get your garage floor done because you'll now have to do the cleaning process of degreasing and acid washing your garage floor first, before you can put a epoxy down on your garage floor!! ALSO, I noticed in this video, you already had cracks in your garage floor, which means you if don't address those cracks, you're going to have even more problems later on with your garage floor chipping and even possibly leading to your having to jack hammer the floor up and pour a new concrete floor down. You need to address your garage floor before you really start cluttering your garage with all your stuff. Keep in mind, I have a neighbor who is a mechanic, he too, rebuilt an entire car in his garage and he's only been in his house for 1.5 years and it's a brand newly built home and already his garage floor is filthy, dirty, stained and cluttering with engines, car parts, chemicals and everything else that a mechanic uses and to this day I hear from him always REGRETTING not getting his garage floor done before he started on his project car!! AND he especially tells me this whenever he sees my epoxied garage floor!! So you don't want to end up like my neighbor and you don't want to end up costing yourself more money in the long run by ignoring to take care of your garage floor now.
dat civic is destroyed , i would never do dat to my car legit
