Getting across the SALOUM DELTA in Senegal is not as easy as I thought |S7E30|
To reach the Saloum Delta in Senegal, I will have to find a boat to take me and my motorcycle across. From the small town of Djiffer, there are lots of boats (called "pirogue") and it's busy with people, animals, boats and all sort of goods. It takes a little time but eventually, I find a boatmen who is willing to bring me across (for a good price of course!)

The boats may look a bit questionable compared to modern industrial standards, but they are capable vessels for the job just as those used for navigating around the Darién Gap. The boats probably go back centuries with these people and they know exactly what the boats can do. That makes it easier to trust it all and have faith in a good water crossing 😊

I'm Senegalese. From a human point of view, this video is very beautiful to me as well. The Djifer region is an area where several cultures mix together :serer, wolof, peulh. Actually, the young man who is helping Noraly is Serer. "Issa" is the Arabic name for Jesus. It's hilarious to hear jokes between ethnic groups. While the motorcycle is being unloaded, you can hear a Serer person saying mockingly to another person ( peulh ): "DO YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR KING FALL IN THE WATER?". It's an old joke among these cousin peoples where each one has fun pretending to be the king of the other.

Incredible! 😊 I have travelled a fair bit in Africa, but your ability to "make things happen" like getting Alaska onto a boat, and safely off the other side, with all your baggage, is just wonderful... It is heartwarming to see what a smile brings out of people. What an amazing bunch of guys for hand portaging her so safely!! 🎉
Google says the little huts are granaries (where they store grain). The water keeps it safe from fire and rodents. It seems millet (Fonio) is the chief grain, also rice and corn.
I will never cease to be amazed at how Noraly manages, in mass confusion, to convey what she needs to do. Alaska needs a a spot on her for water crossing stickers! Great video Noraly!
There are so many channels that I've watched that I get tired of fairly quit but yours has never ending excitement. Thank you so much.
I am just amazed how Noraly has total trust in people she doesnt know, i would be panic stricken about someone wandering off into a crowd with all my belongings! Her faith in the goodness of humanity is a joy to behold 🙏🏽
I’m continually impressed by your knack of communication even when there seems to be no common language. Noraly, this might seem ‘old hat’ to you but I find the most impressive thing is your patience. You never seem to get down on yourself when things get chaotic. You are truly unique, fortunate are those who know you personally, I believe you are the best example of an overachiever…❤❤❤Rick
Hi Noraly, so again you've proven that nothing comes even close to your adventures on KZread, others may try, but to no avail. You seem to up your game on every move that you make. Brilliant!
Just spectacular!! That scene as you were leaving the shore in the boat with your bike … all the colorful boats with the colorful flags whipping in the wind … proud boatmen standing the bow. Perfect soundtrack to accompany this scene. Incredible. Gutsy. Captivating. Loving this season so much.

After bush whacking with Alaska, an adventure on it's own, you somehow convey that you need to get Alaska on a boat!! I'm guessing that the sight of Noraly riding into all of that confusion is not one the locals have seen before and yet Noraly remains calm while dealing with language and culture challenges. The local people are so helpful and friendly. It's so good that you are able to capture that in the video.

Having the 360 camera is genius. The scenes of the guys loading Alaska on the boat were so “in the moment” that I was 10x more nervous for you than you seemed yourself. If there was a way for you to bottle and sell your patience in the face of hectic crazy uncertain situations you’d make a fortune. I applaud your grace under pressure.
The only thing that kept me comfortable watching this episode develop was the realization that if anything bad had happened to our dear traveleriser, we would not be seeing this really scary episode dealing with all these strangers in a totally chaotic setting! OMG... But then there's Noraly, just charming everyone and getting what she's after. No Problem!!
That was quite the "navigation to the beach" route and manpower to load and unload Alaska. It's a blessing that the right people show up to assist at the right time. How many more boat rides are in-store for Noraly and Alaska. The new schedule is worth it and makes one appreciate your hard work even more.

Alaska's boating adventures always fascinate and amuse. So much confusion and debate about how to proceed. Nobody looks as if they have the faintest idea how to go about it. But, slowly, it comes together and the bike is loaded without mishap.😅
