Motorcycling the Atlas Mountains of Morocco gone WRONG |S7 - E10|

In this episode, I have plotted myself a route straight through the high Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The day turns out to be extremely challenging as I find myself on a steep downhill path which is washed out and very rocky. With steep cliffs on the side, I am just trying not to slide off the mountain entirely.

Inspite of watching Noraly negotiating some really risky terrain over the last 4 years, this was the very first instance where me, my wife, my 84 year old mother in law literally sat on the edge of our seats praying to god she doesn’t fall off the cliff. Be safe Noraly. This particular pass was a point of no return for you as there wasn’t even the width to turn your bike around and return. Thank god you’re safe 🙏👏🏼👍🏼

Even if the go-pro makes it look easy , it definitely looked dangerous and for once i was scared about Noraly falling down the wrong way. Very very tough riding conditions here. A bit too risky . Hats off to Noraly for tackling this stretch of the route bravely. She has honed her biking skills at Baja rally which we can see her using well. Stay safe Noraly.

Dude...that's exactly what I was thinking , the rally stuff she's been doing came in handy but that bike is HEAVY and that situation could have definitely ended things for a bit. Of all the places she's been Africa is going to be the riskiest I think. Mexico had its problems in cartel country and central America she had that guy with a rope laid down across the road but I feel that the lack of gov infrastructure and the isolated social standards here in Africa will put her in dangerous situations. I hope she's got a gun.

She also has to consider that when she’s racing, there are paramedics not too far and others around to help of something goes wrong. Also the bike is lighter and if it gets damaged, it’s not such a big deal cause she’s not living on it. She’s mentioned before how she has to carefully calculate her risks when travelling like this and stay within what she can handle. It’s actually very impressive what she manages to accomplish and that training has definitely improved her skills. This isn’t easy to ride or to assess. Good job, Noraly!

I have been researching karst resources of Croatia and Montenegro. Having +50 years of speleological interests in and outside the USA. I'd recommend submerged reef caves of Micronesia. Because the water is warm down to 30 feet. You'll need a support vessel with facilities to counter ill effects of deeper descents and other comforts. I had the infrastructure provided by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The US Army is still there. Tomisslav Makaj, if a USA Citizen, could volunteer for oversea military deployment within Micronesia.

This must have been one of the most dangerous episodes ever - like the ones in Kazachztan in former years, maybe worse. I’ve been following you when you went throught the dangerous roads in Guatemala. Never ever though that you would be in my country one day. Thank you for the beautiful views. Just one thing, Morocco has one of the toughest nature landscapes in the water , in the mountains and the desert. It has a history of explorers and professionals who lost their lifes or got severly injured trying to catch the beauty of the wilderness through their sports. We love you a lot and we hope mother nature has been forgiving this time too 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼. Stay safe, in Morocco we tend to ask the locals about roads condition more than relying on the maps. They give very good safety tips. Also there are some roads where even us experienced drivers decide to leave our cars and go with local drivers because they have learned each curve and hill by heart while we’re crying in the back seat😂. Best of luck to you and we’re really looking forward more of your videos in Africa ❤

The most courageous woman I have ever seen. I can’t wait to watch the next episode. Why on earth are you leaving the barely driveable main roads and going totally off road and how do you find your way to safety is beyond me though I used to think I was a good biker with more than 30 years of experience. Unbelievable… The perfect use of cameras, the detailed narration, the lovely giggling each time you encounter a hardship instead of cursing, the genuine kindness when talking to people… All amazing. Wow!

Oh my goodness - this was a nailbiter of a ride right after leaving the town into the desert road. Once Noraly gets into the mountain road which seems to be a misnomer as it is just a dirt track that it skirts the mountain to the point where you are barely hugging onto whatever ledge that will allow you to continue on ... Ay-yay Yay Caramba!!! GO ITCHY BOOTS, GO !!!

There is a reason why she has a "Garmin Inreach Mini" attached to her jacket (the little red device). If she push the button for real alert (not test) and confirm, it will send SOS including GPS coordinates to international rescue center via satellite. They will then contact nearest help in the area. It will take some time but at least they can rescue her (sometimes with helicopter .... even military ones) in the particular corresponding country she is in.

Thank you Noraly on behalf of armchair explorers everywhere. This episode reminds me of riding my Hodaka Ace in California's Mohave desert many years ago, very similar terrain, unforgiving and very tough what with all the scree. Ridden TAT twice, most of the BDR USA routes, Alaska and back, and countless other adventure rides. BUT….I was never alone and always had my two other adventure buddies alongside. With a threesome you always have 3x the probability of failures, crashes, mechanical, and other emergencies….but you are never alone. I cannot imagine being “out there” and all alone like Itchy Boots….let alone the risks associated with riding through a foreign country’s badlands. And yes, those GoPro cameras utterly dumb down the complexity of the terrain….so if you think it looks tough from her GoPro video, it was 3x as scary in real life. KUDO’s Itchy….we love you….Godspeed to you.

So there are NO ROAD SIGNS in Morocco, eh ? Immediate concern as this video began. As a LONGTIME viewer I feel personally at risk, riding along with you in these desolate, yet beautiful conditions. Huffing and puffing along with you as the struggles continue. Although I’m perpetually impressed with all you do and all the substantial difficulties you conquer, I always return to what my thoughts will be as the video concludes. For me Morocco has been the most surprising of destinations because I didn’t know what to expect. I must say that, given the difficult circumstances you’ve encountered here, you must have needed a little break between the end here and the finished video you have completed. And through it all, we still hear that encouraging little giggle as you struggle mightily where many of us may call it a day. I’m SUCH A FAN, NORALY !…❤❤Rick
