Military men in Togo take my camera 🇹🇬 |S7E58|

In this episode I am exploring the mountains of Togo, West Africa. It's a beautiful area and the motorcycling is amazing here. The rainy season has started though, so I need to find some shelter to hide from a storm, but after that I continue to go and see a waterfall. A few kilometers before the waterfall, there is a roadblock and they do not like my helmet camera.

You are so amazing, humble and open-minded and showing respect to everyone you encounter, even if they treat you not fair all the time. But because you show how you are, you have, or better you get, a lot of respect back! @goodman4093 because on one episode a while back, someone said that they knew about a certain tree that Noraly visited (the Cotton Tree, maybe?) was now gone, so she must have seen it just before it blew down, approximately a month before the video was released. @@holmes1956O whether they're real military or just thugs, believe me in that situation you're at their mercy. I've traveled overland through Africa and been in highly stressful situations with several armed guys surrounding our vehicle - you're immediately intimidated. Been asked for ridiculous bribes etc, outright. Although you're at their mercy, you still need to keep your head, be cordial and do as they ask in order to drive away safely. It's tricky as hell and super stressful. Noraly did really well.

Most of the conflicts you see and hear on TVs are elaborated on the Western tables!

Something similar happened to me in Russia yesterday. Before I watched videos like this but it was just until I pass through the same situation that I really can feel the anxiety of this girl even if she smiles, but in her voice tone is very clear that she was not good. In the moment many thoughts come to your head because you don't know what kind of problems you can have. I will upload the video soon (but it's just in Spanish, if someone understand it), but I must say that yesterday I couldn't sleep well because of that.

Hello Noraly and Itchy Boots Community. First congratulations to Noraly for this journey and thanks for the sharing. I am a togolese myself and was nervous about encouters with Togo security/border/customs officers as I realized Noraly was heading toward my country... reports of them being unfriendly, unprofessional and even intimidating are common, unfortunately... The people themselves should mostly be kind and friendly though, just like Victory in this episode... I wish Noraly less (no more) such bad encounters throughout Togo! Congrats again! Cheers!

True, these military checkpoints in 3rd world countries really ruin the experience. If only they knew how counter intuitive it is in the “hearts and minds” game

Those military checkpoints especially when manned by someone who’s just looking to shove their authority down someone’s throat really ruins the experience of adventure and exploring these countries. When I travel here in the Philippines those military people scare me more than the unknown.

That was a tense moment, I thought you were going to lose you gopro. I love the fact that they had no idea that the 360 camera was still filming them. Victori was a sweet lady and even with your broken french you managed to communicate well. The uphill hike to the waterfall was worth the effort I'm sure you would agree.

What an incredible brave woman you're. You're so lovely! As an African must say proud of you 👍 Don't know your future plan but I can only hope that you also hit the road towards east Africa especially Eritrea ❤ I must also have to admit that you're making me feel itchy to hit the road like you before I die😊
