I become a free mototaxi driver on an island in Senegal 🇸🇳 |S7E31|
In this episode I explore one of the islands in the Saloum delta in Senegal. To get here with a motorcycle was not so easy, and so people are not used to seeing a foreigner on a motorcycle! Nevertheless, I was welcomed with open arms and meet tonnes of new people in this episode. What an incredible place, with incredible people..

People tend to forget that if you treat others reasonably they mostly do the same, or do better. It is always a minority, which are troublemakers and unreasonable. But you are right, if one only learns about different places from news stories. The logic about news is such that the bad news are more news worthy and have higher priority than the good news or news which describe normal life.

It's by design. They have been telling lies about West Africa for over 50 years to keep everyone at bay so the French and the British would have all the recourses in there to themselves. Chinese has exposed them, that's why the skyline in Africa are changing rapidly. Hence, the hate towards China from these two countries.

Noraly has been helped by many & returns the favour as seen here & in other past videos. Noraly has transported her motorcycles in canoes in past adventures & here again to get on & off this island. She has put her motorcycle in a basket to overcome a cliff face & avoid possible threatening areas. Another great ride with helpful people overcoming challenges en route. Thanks for another awesome ride.
I am finding it so refreshing to experience these places virtually through your videos. It can be very easy to develop a lop-sided view of different parts of the world if all we have for our source of information are the brief things we hear about in the news. Your videos bring these places alive and help us to better understand what daily life is like for the people who live there, and make it easier to see that underneath all of the cultural differences we really are more alike than we realize..
What a great cost effective way to reduce beach erosion. We spend millions and achieve very little. Lessons to be learnt. Great episode Noraly, thanks, take care.

For any motor cycle, loose sand is difficult. Either the bike is too light, or too heavy. Nobby tires, with lower pressure, can help. We make our choices. I’m about ready to let my Road king go. I’ve ridden so far, so long, and getting tired. Noraly, you bring us much joy, so many adventures. The unexpected day's can be the best days, it's amazing how some people can have a passion and help others, kudos to those men helping to save the beach. Safe travels Noraly
This is by far your best footage on this adventure Noraly. I love everything about it and the way you interact with people is heart warming.
Hallo Noraly, Lucia hier. 🎉

It is those people we meet along the way that add a special flavour to our lives...just think of how rich your life is becoming by doing what you are doing now...and in an almost accidental way, how we (the viewers) are sharing those riches !!! Great soundtrack too by the way !!!
Noraly..........It is probably just me but you seem to be a bit more relaxed since you have reduced the video schedule and yet I feel like I am seeing more. You are amazing in that you are such a good ambassador for motorcyclists and people in general. You have an uncanny ability to find interesting people and situations like the beach erosion project. Take care and safe travels.

An amazing episode. You interact and connect with total strangers so effortlessly giving a lift to a total stranger, have not seen you do that until now and again getting invited for a meal, is all almost surreal.e Very interesting areas to ride too, through those trees and remote villages. Thank you Noraly for bringing another unknown world to see and enjoy. Bottled water in A place like that. Every bit of this episode is full of surprises and interest .

What a enchanting day ! Couldn't imagine losing 10-12 meters a year. They must fear loss of entire island, peninsula. Thanks Taxi !
Wow , what an adventure .As long there was a trail, you don’t hesitate to go through. You are a courageous friendly lady and an ambassador of your country. Thanks for sharing , its another adventure for us . Take care !
The drone shots were magically beautiful, the people were 😍😍😍, the Island mood transpired and I loved every second of this video! 🥰 I can never get enough of Itchy Boots! 😍🥰🤩🤗
Truly amazing in every way. You have reached the end of the island and you find somebody that has made it his mission for 10 years to stop the beach errosion. And talk about riding skills. Take on a passenger to ride narrow bridges with no railings in most spots and pass within inches of donkey carts. As many of the comments have said; your willingness to learn the language, to smile at all you encounter makes people open their doors for you and they want to help you find your way. Keep up the great videos.
National TV corporations hardly ever produce programes of this quality. The drone flight over the delta was amazing, I've never seen that area in any travel or nature documentary before, the same with the simple yet effective coastal erosion project.
It's a female Dutch motorcycle rider day, Itchy Boots and Lotte Van Drunen. Lotte is winning another championship right now. 15 years old and her first season on 250s, you can believe it when you see her ride.

Seems so friendly there. Beach projects are needed in many places. There’s one place I go to at the Jersey shore that used to only flood during extreme high tides (not storm related). Now every high tide it floods. This change only took about five years. Now there’s a major rebuild going on. I’m learning a lot from you and Myron Cook about geology and ecosystems. Safe travels Noraly.🌲
I have no more words to describe the wonder of the episodes. Noraly has a strong empathy that attracts people. Curiosity and the desire to discover is infinite, for me she is a heroine!👍👍👍
Such an amazing change between the desert sand and the lush green delta. It's like you traveled to another world completely. I've been trying to calculate the size of that massive tree.
The shells are slippery because they are flat-ish plates sliding on plates? The vastness of this atmosphere to sea shell carbon storage is so huge and green and amazing. The beach-stabilizing project…inspiring. What a wonderful peaceful place! Thanks for two-wheel-pioneering through such an interesting delta.
Fascinating video! An over-100-year-old man living on a remote island with family is wonderful to see; and the ongoing sand-recovery project is simple yet fantastic in its effectiveness. It seemed many people stared at Noraly as an unusual sight - now we know a motorbike is a rarity!😀

Google says the huge tree is from the genus Ceiba (SAY-ba) perhaps species pentandra (kapok tree). The boabab trees we've been seeing are genus Adansonia species digitata. Both trees are in the scientific family Malvaceae. While the boabab trees can be thousands of years old the Ceiba trees are more likely hundreds of years old. The Ceiba trees can grow 13 feet (4 meters) in one year. I relearned that genus and higher scientific names are capitalized and lower than genus is not.
